AS Kingham - Mattress Protector
Kingham owners, what are you using to cover the fixed bed mattress ? From memory, we have in the past had fitted bedsheets and mattress protectors made by Jonelle (or similar) for our caravan tapered fixed bed and also our Bessacarr motor home island bed.
Is there anything better on the market ?

Memory foam topper I would have thought with a fitted bottom sheet.

Standard fitted bed sheets are excellent for standard mattresses, but due to the taper on 'French beds' we always had problems with them rumpling up during the night, no matter how much of the spare material we tucked under the foot end of the mattress.
I take it you don't have that problem with the tapered mattress in the Kingham ? It must be my tossing and turning all night

Thank you for your replies, once I'd clicked "like" on Sylvester's post, I lost the option of being able to thank Daisy Mae ?

Re: AS Kingham - Mattress Protector
When we had a caravan with the French bed, I altered the fitted bottom sheet to fit the shape of the corner, I put it on the bed wrong side up, fitted all the corners, the cut off corner I pinned until it was a good fit, then machined the altered corner and then cut off the surplus, I did neaten the rough edges, thinking about it again, I did do a French seam, so no rough edges.

Thanks again Daisy Mae, that sounds similar to what Jonelle did, but no doubt at a fraction of the cost.
"French Seam" ?.... Is that Chinese for something
I'm afraid if it can't be done with a hammer, saw or a socket set, it's a job for the professionals

French seam, sew a seam on the right side of the fabric, turn to the wrong side and sew the seam again, hence all neat and no rough edges. didn`t cost me a penny. Do you know anyone with a sewing machine, who could do it for you?

If you lived nearer I would have done it for you, my Mum and her family came from Durham. Friendly lot up there.

That's very kind Daisy Mae, I'll ask around regarding a sewing machine

Ha !.... That's memory fade for you, I said "Jonelle" earlier in this thread, but it came flooding back when I saw "Jonic".
That's definitely the company that did our mattress covers for a fixed French bed in our last caravan and also the island bed in our first Motorhome.

Hi bobash,
Which size/shape option did you go for from the Jonic options ? Again, from faded memory, I thought they had a list of all the popular caravans and motorhomes, but I can't even see AS as an option in the makers list
Ken.
