I brought on saturday from a caravan center a new style calor gas light weight 6kg propane to fit in my symphony fits a treat and the bonus is it came with a gauge fitted as standard not sure if they do one for butane.
Hope that helps.
P.S. this is my first posting since joining so hope all is ok.
Best regards
I too have been looking to change my standard 6kg propane to a 'lite' cylinder, just waiting for current one to empty. Meanwhile I'm watching Ebay for any to come on which are local so I can have a spare ready. Good to know about the guage, only hope it's reasonably accurate. I've got digital luggage scales which I use at the moment.

You can of course use an automatic change over valve, then all you have to do is check when it has changed over, and replace the empty cylinder.

Re: How much gas left?
As aleady posted the only way to tell is by weight, as propane in the cylinder is liquid and not gas, so there are no accurage guages for propane. The best guide is the device that Calor fit onto the Light Cylinders and that is only a guide

As already pointed out elsewhere on the forum, don't presume that "All" Calor lite bottles come with the Gas-Trac Guage....
the bottle we got from Spinneys certainly didn't anyway

Whisky.
Yes Deckie. I know.
Hi Whisky,
I think 'ssjohnl' has "thrown in the towel" ...... very good decision Mate

Here is some comments I found.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I understood Calor Lite gauges were floats in the cylinder and only started working once the liquid was well down.
Anyway, back into the fridge.......... I need to find out why it's getting warm. I may have to drill another hole in the door to insert a small light so I can see whats going on.

Haven't thrown in the towel yet - just enjoying the variety of answers a simple question can provoke. Dread to think how many responses would be made for a challenging question. Anyway it's good to hear all the ideas - it's not all hot air.

Re: How much gas left?
This link here explains that not all Calor lite bottles were fitted with the gauge, some helpful info on other options like the BP gas lightweight bottles & Safefill cylinders etc... From what I've read the Calor Gas-Trac gauges are useless anyway

Interesting thread here discussing missing gauges as well..

Re: How much gas left?
Hi there,
I love the whole of this thread but I wish to point something out on the subject of "level gauges".
All of the modern Thetford Toilets have a built-in level gauge on the bottom half of the tank.
Does anyone rely on this gauge as an indication of whether or not their toilet is full?
I rest my case; most level gauges are a waste of money.
Best regards,
