fridge details wanted
hi guys, well here we are posting our very first question on ASOF,lets hope I get it right.my wife and I should pick up our first campervan in about 2 /3 weeks from illfracombe in north devon.we are complete virgins to motorhoming and really looking forward to getting out there and meeting some of you all.At present we do not have access to the vans manual and my good lady is asking me if the fridge has a freezer section so we can take a couple of ready meals with us when we head off on our first weekend away (which she is meticulously planning ) so I am hoping someone out there can supply an answer so she can continue her plans uninterrupted. If any of you live near to Plymouth and head up to roborough down in about 3 weeks look out for a symbol with two senior"s and two westhighland terriers onboard, give us a wave, and if time permits stop for a chat (and I will pick your brains).cheers, dutydog

Hello and from Leicestershire.
Sorry do not know the model of your fridge, if it is like mine, the freezer doesn`t hold much at all, you will get more in if you take off the boxes , that is why I sometime use an electric cool box, I don`t use ready meals so cannot say if they will fit.
Someone with a Symbol will advise soon.
Enjoy your trip. best wishes,
Margaret

Have a look in the fact sheets section very little difference in the fridges of that era and there are handbooks there
Most fridges have freezer compartments but your wife should get used to idea it's much smaller than a household fridge so no chickens etc (hi hi)

Hi
I think mine is average size for a small fridge and the the freezer compartment is tiny at 6½ inches deep by 5½ inches wide with a usable hight of about 4½ inches. The usable hight is restricted because the cooling coil is in the way.
That said we rarely use it anyway. We usually by food on a daily basis (or eat out and just take a snack back to the van) but you can get chilled meals several days before the sell by date that will keep in the fridge and dried / tinned that last for months.
When you're on the road you'll soon find what works for you.
Brod.
