Mercedes Benz Mobilo Van
Just been reading the supplement supplied with my service pack. I' wandering am I reading it right? As long as I have the van serviced by a M/Benz service dealer at the correct time I'm covered for emergency breakdown anywhere in Europe (there are exceptions) for up to thirty years. If this is so am I right thinking I don't need any other break down insurance? I hope so and that I have read the blurb correctly.

That is my understanding. I don't have it on my van, didn't start until after mine sold, but I have similar on my E Class, renews for 1 year at annual service.

It fairly standard on cars now, my Volvo has cover providing it's serviced by a Volvo dealer.

Yes, we have it on our new Winchcombe, checked it with MB just to be 100% sure.

Looks like you "have to have" 2 or more flat tyres from the blurb here:Claytaa wrote:Needs to be registered 2012 or later, thanks for the comfirmation Travel Kat, pretty good deal, do you know if it covers a punctured tyre?

Presumably the thinking is that with only 1 flat, you can get going with either a spare or the puncture kit supplied with some vehicles.
This breakdown cover is however dependent on having the vehicle serviced at an MB dealer.

Mr L did some calculations last night. The price we will pay for Breakdown for the Nuevo and a car [we are not sure whether to sell the 'towing' car or the 'run about' one but makes no difference to price ] and servicing them at our local garage is considerably less than 'free' Breakdown and taking them to the dealer and paying their extortionate Servicing prices.

My last service at M/Benz dealer for Bourton was £168, thought that was reasonable, certainly not extortionate.

Re: Mercedes Benz Mobilo Van
That was the cost of the first service, the second service which is the big one will be £300 including the dreaded VAT. This is using the commercial M/B dealer and not the retail car M/B dealer. I think that cost is ok, oil and the cost of air and fuel filters ect. I could may be save £50 using my local garage but all in all I still think for a main dealer it's pretty good.
