Hab door frame hinges
Anyone know if the single screw on each hinge on the hab door frame is all that holds it on? I have some nasty filiform corrosion running from the hinges into the frame (impressive on a 30 month old van ) and I want to sort it b4 it gets too bad. Doubt it will be warranty now.

Is it the Seitz door? This spare parts diagram list may help if so. Page 5 shows an exploded view of the hinge assembly part 5.

Thanks Peter, has Hartal on window so presume that's the make of door. Def has different hinges to the drawings. Thanks anyway
After tentative removal of screw all is still very secure so I think the hinge half may be bonded to the frame? I will just have to clean up, Alocrom treat and try and match the colour. More corrosion than a Landrover

Here is a movie of the Hartel door hinge, does it look like this. http://www.hartal.de/en/produkte/reisemobiltueren/hartalevolution.html
Scroll down to movie.
Looks to me that the hinge hooks into the frame, then restrained by the screws.

Hi Jaytee
Had a look at ours and it is the same as yours with just one screw but for the life of me I cannot work out how it can be removed, as you say it looks as though it is somehow bonded because that little screw would never hold it otherwise. Sorry I cannot be of further help.

Thanks both. Video doesn't help but I have sent an email to Hartal. See what happens.
All best John.

Re: Hab door frame hinges
Jaytee,
I think that's a much more sophisticated hinge arrangement than is fitted to our vans - it appears to run on gears and allows the door to fold back flush with the outside wall.
With that sort of mechanism I wondered if that's the latest Hartal solution for holding the door in the open position! Its got to be an improvement over the friction slide arrangement we have!
Liam

Hi Liam, yes it would certainly be a better option. Only just caught our today in a reasonably light wind before it sheared the rivet.Liam wrote:Jaytee,

Re: Hab door frame hinges
Just heard back from Hartal UK agents who initially said they felt it better if I took it to a dealer to be repaired 'correctly' but after my rant of a response re quality of dealer repair we established a reasonable rapport
Anyway, long story short; the hinge is welded to the outer frame. Have asked if they do a paint match, might be lucky.
All best John.

He thinks the colour is a Fiat 249 white. Hmmm perhaps silver grey is white in Italy
