Nuevo charger malfunction?
My 2008 Nuevo seems to have developed a new habit that I'm sure it didn't have at the end of last year. In January the leisure battery went flat a few days after I had been out for a regular 'battery condition' run. I usually try to take the van out for the day every couple of weeks to keep everything sweet.
In this instance I discovered that when I turned off the engine the touchscreen panel comes to life and shows that the habitation electrics are switched on. I'm sure this didn't happen before. I know I can simply turn off the power to avoid the battery drain but wondered if anyone else has come across this; is it a fault or just an annoying glitch?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Jon.

I think you need an appointment at Specsavers Jon!
Either that or we are both daft, because I'm certain our van did the same. Can't check for you as the new van has a different model of charger, and may be wired up differently anyway!
Someone with a 2008 will check for you - then I hope we can call off the men in white coats!

Jon,
If you have the MES panel it will sometimes throw a wobbly if subjected to low voltage.
Are you also showing a high LB drain even though nothing is switched on?
Rather than remove the panel, the easiest thing to do is remove the neg lead on the LB for a few seconds. Hopefully the panel will reset.

Re: Nuevo charger malfunction?
Our 07 Nuevo panel seamed to drain the battery when everything is switched off! Now I make sure the leisure battery is fully charged , then disconnect the battery. No more probs! I had checked all circuits to make sure nothing else was causing a drain.
(I have fitted quick release battery terminals)

Jon,
we have a 2008 Devon, it probably has the same panel.
The leisure battery seemed to lose voltage quite quickly when not on hook up. The panel comes out quite easily and there is one connector on the rear which supplies power to the panel. I disconnected this to reset the panel and then after taking the van for a good run to excercise everything the leisure battery now loses voltage much slower.

Nuevo charger malfunction.
Hello,
Thanks to all who responded to my recent query.
Firstly, I can confirm that I do indeed go to Specsavers and all is well in that department.
As for the van problem, I tried both the other fixes suggested but it made no difference. I also took the trouble to completely recharge the leisure battery and the next day repeated the procedures. Again, no joy.
At this point I gave-up and took the van to my local motorhome dealer who still has it after nearly 2 weeks!
I'm hoping to get the van back by the weekend as I'm due to go away then for a week.
Thanks again to you all and I'll let you know the outcome when I have one.
Jon.

Re: Nuevo charger malfunction?
Thanks for the feedback Jon - always useful.
Those touchscreen panels were a pain in the backside. I had four replacements before the manufacturers realised they had used the wrong solder!!
I am not joking either - believe it or not, that was the reason given by the makers for the regular failures. Perhaps they should have paid a visit to Sava da Specca! (They were Italian)

Re: Nuevo charger malfunction?
I believe (hope) the problem is now solved. I still don't really know what caused the trouble. The repairers said they found a broken wire under the van. When I went to pick-up the van it wouldn't start, they said the battery had a broken cell so they fitted a new battery. At the same time I had a problem with intermittent clouds of black smoke. Parts were replaced, still smoking, more parts and £300 later all seems well. I'm off tomorrow for a few days to satisfy myself it's OK before going on a longer trip. Hopefully everything is fixed and we can carry-on with our tours. It's all caused a very late start to the year for us as we'd normally have been away long before this.
Thanks again to all who gave their suggestions.
