advice re selling of x reg Trident
Ill health forces sale of our X reg Trident.
Can anyone give me some tips as to the best way to do it? ie private or salesroom, auction or fixed price, internet or local.
Never had to do anything like this before so any help would be appreciated so that I can compile a true and honest picture of our lovely van.
Thanks, Ella

Have you tried just putting an advert on this forum. I'd imagine doing so will be a free easy step. Not sure of value but I expect one of the VW owners might advise.

Much as I hate their near monopoly position, it's hard to beat an Ebay Motors classified listing in my experience - you just get more responses that way than anywhere else that I've found. Of course, advertising it here won't harm too!
It's a while since I last used Ebay Motors, but last time I looked it was less than £20 for a listing, and the format is "fixed price" rather than auction. As an alternative you can auction it instead on Ebay if you definitely want it gone in a known amount of time, though you will almost certainly get less for it (unless you set a high reserve or starting price, in which case you may get no bids at all).
Good luck!

Gumtree adds are free, I sold my 95 Autosleeper on Gumtree very easily.

...just looked through Motorhome Trader website -
02 Trident £19k
2000 Trident £17k
2000 Trident £16k
2000 Trident (P) £15k
99 Trident (P) £14k
01 Trooper £15k
Mainly dealer vans...private should be lower.
Whatever you paid for yours, no need to lose money on it - demand is high, especially with spring coming, and supply is drying up...owners with good ones tend to keep them for a long time.
You can advance search Ebay by sold or completed items, to give you an idea of what people actually ended up paying, rather than just looking at bid prices.
Personally, if you are not 100% confident with selling, you may be better off with an ad on M/H trader, or Preloved, I've always had good results from them - and Preloved is free.

You could always sell through a broker that specialises like these guys
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I've never used them, so I can't recommend them. They appear to sell quite a few campers during the summer period.
Worth asking what their commission would be.
