Thinking of buying a Fairford
Hi Went to the NEC Show and decided to order a Fairford. We are changing from a caravan with a fixed bed and wanted the option of taking 2 extra passengers (grandchildren). Did anybody see the Fairford and what are your opinions of it compared to the Kingham. We are worried we have rushed in and maybe should have went for the Kingham. We have time to change our minds, if we are quick. We also liked the Kemerton XL any comments would be appreciated.

These were our finalists too. We waited to see the Fairford 'in the flesh' before picking our winner, the Kingham.
For us it was mainly about storage room, after owning a Duetto for the last ten years we know how cramped these vans can get when you actually use them. The idea of a front lounge and rear lounge conversion seemed great but as we get older the fixed bed looked better. The Faiford also enabled rear door opening to the views as you relax in the lounge area but we thought that lounging opposite the open side door was more us.
Of course it is 'Horses for courses' and Autosleepers give you plenty of choices to ponder but it is your choice and only you can make it. As for grandchildren, they take more stuff than you do, dictate where you can [and can't] go and soon pass through the stage where they like to hang with granny and gramps.

We also visited the NEC show, and l may be wrong but l think it was the Fairford that didn't seem to have a wardrobe! Strange, especially for a four berth.

Yes, our Duetto was also a four berth but you would struggle to find room in it for four peoples footwear, never mind their clothes. The extra bedding alone would have filled much of the available space so needless to say, that extra bed spent the ten years of our ownership of it in our loft. At least the Fairford has four forward facing belted seats, the Duetto four berths had just three.Masai Warrior wrote:We also visited the NEC show, and l may be wrong but l think it was the Fairford that didn't seem to have a wardrobe! Hi thanks for all the comments. After much deliberating, we have finally decided, i think to order the Kingham as there is more storage. We liked the idea of being able to open the back door on the Fairford but the Kingham seems to have more space in the kitchen area. We only hope we don't regret not being able to take the grandkids. I think the wardrobe in the Fairford is a cupboard on the floor. Once we place the order, we can relax and look forward to delivery in the new year. We are looking forward to the freedom of a van rather than having to tow and set up a caravan.Machloop wrote:These were our finalists too. Depending on how big they are they could be bedded one on the settee and one across the cab seats on a piece of plywood and a li-lo. You don't get the Fairfords travel seats and belts but it never bothered my kids in a split screen Kombi with no belts.
