Winchcombe overcab storage
Morning all . Has anyone come up with a good idea to stop stuff (books etc) falling out of the two side storage areas at the front of the Winchcombe?
Going to have a look around for nets or whatever but I know one of you clever people will have come up with the perfect solution

Re: Winchcombe overcab storage
My son, who has a 3D printer, made us some small plastic locking shelf support type things. These are fitted either end of the shelf and a thin rod of aluminium, suspended from them. The support has a rotating locking device to stop the rod jumping out in motion. When we are in one place we can remove the rod completely if we wish. They look neat and, over the life of the two vans that we have used them in, we have not lost anything from the shelf.
If you know of anyone with a 3D printer then I can give you a link to the website where he published the specs for them. I do have photos but my OH, who knows how to add photos, is not at home at the moment.

Hmmm, that has given me a good idea. Don't have the printer but I reckon I could find some clips and I have some 1/4 alloy tube in the garage. Thanks

Re: Winchcombe overcab storage
Sorry: just blundered my way through and the 3 photos are in 3 posts...you get the idea anyway which might be copyable from Screwfix or B&Q or similar.
You can buy the extendible bar type things but we have never had any success with them. They tend to work loose as you travel and so the whole bar falls out. Either that or you tighten them so much that you crack the wood on either end of the shelf.

What a good idea. Why cant motorhome builders come up with ideas like this, it would cost peanuts when they were building vans. Apllies to all not just AS
