Soon to be vito autosleeper owner
Hi new to motorhome ownership but looking forward to picking up a mercedes vito montana autosleeper #1997 model. Would appreciate any advice esp in connection with the water holders which are low hanging under the vehicle and may be best removed ! Thanks for any advice. Jules

Do you mean the hangers that the fresh / waste water are on,? I had new ones put on my Topaz when I bought it just to be sure they were safe. stronger ones than were on originally.
Why remove if they are the hangers, won`t you need water tanks?

Hi thanks 4 replies. Yes I do mean the water/waste carriers but I've read on tinternet that they can catch on speed humps etc with the montana and get damaged.others say they have replaced with portable water container and just let any waste water out onto ground as there's not likely to be much of that...just wondering drink whether this is something I should be concerned with....

Letting waste water out on to the ground is frowned upon and definitely a no no, not very safety concerned if on a road and motor bike behind you, he/she could skid, and never on a site as someone else is going on that pitch after you, especially not on , it could be a tent on soggy ground, I get quite a few litres per day of waste water, and enough to soak the ground and make it unpleasant for someone else, especially if it contains grease etc.which mine doesn`t but would never let it run on the ground, this is looked down on and gives all motor homers a bad name.hartleyj wrote:Hi thanks 4 replies. most if not all on here carry water in the water tanks which are either under the van or inside lockers if for winter use .
I carry a full tank of water, also a couple of 5ltr of water for drinking and for the dog,) tank water which is under my van that is what they were built for to use, just take care going over humps etc, you drive a motor home different to driving a car,) tank water for showers/washing/teeth cleaning, washing up, and tea making etc.
T carry a 25ltr waste water container to catch the waste water as it is on wheels I can empty it in the correct place. saves moving the van unless I am going of site then go to the waste water point.

Your welcome Jules, fill up and go, you`ll never look back perhaps like me you will wish you had done it sooner.
May seem a bit daunting at first like everything when it is something new, you will soon get use to it, any help just ask plenty of helpful members on here. Just enjoy.
Best regards,
Margaret
