Nuevo problems and faults - share and compare?
Hi, Just joined the forum. One useful feature, I know its a bit negative, would be Nuevo owners sharing their experiences regarding faults and problems. There are many good points about the Nuevo - it suits us fine. However, we had a few problems when we first bought it - nearly new - and I would have found it useful to have known what to look out for in the way of potenial problems.
Are there any other Nuevo owners out there who agree? If so I will post my experiences for others to share.

Hello FoweyBoy
I dont own a Nuevo, but if I were to upgrade from a Trident this is the model I would most likely go for to be honest, as it's not too big and I quite like the look of them having seen a few around in our neck of the woods.
So it would be an interesting read and a great for myself and others if you post your experiences

Surpisingly we dont seem to have any Nuevo owners on here. It is probably AS best selling van in its various guises, Nuevo2, Classic, Lancashire etc. Its a big van in a small body and generally people seem happy with them. I am sure there will be tales of woe from some, but I havnt heard of any major issues with them. We know a couple who had one of the very first and they are now on their 2nd or 3rd Nuevo. Our friends (who are members of this forum!!) have a Classic and thats been brilliant.

Re: Nuevo problems and faults - share and compare?
Hi All,
I have just found this forum, now I don't have a Nuevo, but do have a Marquis Lancashire 06 reg which is a Nuevo but upgraded?
We had a few faults from new, mostly crimped wires dropping out the crimp, a new Leisure battery the original died, but the replacement has been fine, there was a crack at the bottom of the cupboard in the shower, this was replaced under warranty.
Oh, that fire rattled my teeth loose, fixed it by screwing it to the cupboard, just two screws, but made a lot of difference.
Had a lot of things fitted by Marquis and had to keep going back to have very simple things put right.
this was a pain, and I wouldn't buy another van from them, well, I would, but they wouldn't fit any extras.
Pete

Yes cant say we were over impressed with them on the workshop side, Willersey had to fix most of the issues we had when the van was new. No issues with the sales or admin people though.

We have a Nuevo II EK which is our 3rd motorhome and must admit its the best one we have owned to date ,we have had some water leak problems which have been addressed both by Marquis ( Northampton ) and also Autosleeper Works and can say they were more than helpfull with sorting the problem giving an immediate response to my calls unlike the other dealer at Newark we have dealt with in the past.

Very pleased but have had some problems.
We have recently purchased a Nuevo Es (2007) and we are very pleased as for our requirements it is spot on (although it is early days!).
An initial problem was the roof light seal above the cab bed was leaking which has now been fixed.
The only other issue I can think of, is that when making up the double bed, the support runner was too short to engage it with the lock bolt on the opposite seat. Not too sure if we have anything missing! (see image if it links ok!). Maybe other Nuevo owners could advise....for now I have made an extension piece to get around the problem.
(The runner nearest the kitchen engaged fine, its the runner closest to the cab)

Re: Nuevo problems and faults - share and compare?
We have a 2004 built registered Jan 2005 Lancashire, (the marquis special version of the neuvo) and after 4 other vans have decided this is the best yet. The only unfixable design fault I have found is the overhead lockers in the lounge, they would be better if they were about 2 inches deeper and 2 inches taller so that the spot lights mounted underneath them were within reach when lying in bed. I have had to design a special rack to hold plates etc against 1 end, (space saving) because if a 10 inch plate is fitted there the door will not close, but if the plate is propped up by about 2 inches this gets over the problem, and the low hight means that even a loaf of bread is a tight fit. being a d.i.y man the kitchen cupboard has been drastically modified with bifold door and sliding shelves, as managment complaiined about crawling on hands and knees to find anything in it, plus many other mods to suit ourselves.

Re. Neuvo Problems.
Hi Murph.
Like the idea of the sliding shelf. Any chance of a few photo's of this mod. Sounds like it will work in quite a few other models as well as the Neuvo. Also any of your other mods. to add to my list of good ideas.

Hi Murph,
I would like to see that as well, being unable to kneel down and using two walking sticks, I find getting anything out of those narrow shelf's neigh on impossible.
How do you stop the shelf's from moving when in transit?
Pete

sliding shelves
I can't show you any photos because I dont know how to put photos on the forum, but the drawers mount on drawer runners as used on office desks. To remove the existing shelves I used an angle grinder fitted with a cutting disc to cut through the steel pins which go through the cupboard sides and into the edge of the shelves. You damage the shelves slightly by doing this (best done from underneath,) but that doesnt matter as they have to be narrowed down slightly to accomodate the runners. If you are members of the autosleeper owners club, further information is available from Bas Wellard, it is number 203 I think in his collection of tips and ideas. I also aranged divisions on the shelves to acommodate the items that we carry, without them sliding about. By removing the waste bin and mounting it on the accommodation door I have been able to use 4 shelves rather than than 2 and the floor of the cupboard, as the lowest shelf is close to the floor. Because the shelves slide out they can be fitted closer together than fixed shelves. I would like to hear from anyone else who has done anything like this.

sliding shelves
Hi Pete and Whisky
Pete asked how you secure the shelves when mobile, as they are inside the kitchen cupboard you just close the door, however I have strenthened the door catch by fitting a shortened version of the washroom door catch so that it is secured at top and bottom but still operated by the origional press button catch, Now is also the time to alter the doors to a bifold hinged at the habitation door end, as I have done.
I got the bits for the extended catch from C.A.K. tanks in Kenilworth

Cheers Paul, hope he's OK
Further to my response back in March we have just purchased a Nuevo, so if you read this FoweyBoy fire away
One good thing... I'm chuffed the cam chain has a lifetime warranty, no more cam belt changes to look forward too!

Re: Nuevo problems and faults - share and compare?
We have an '09 Nuevo II ES and would like to know how to switch the bl**dy interior lights on!
It's the striplights above the wall units on the side and rear wall. I've followed wires to them but can't find any way to switch the blighters on.
Have they been disconnected in favour of the 'white rugby balls' on the ceilling? At least they work.
I eventually got an owners' manual from AS but it doesn't mention these lights, lists a different fridge to mine and generally doesn't really tell me how to fly this MoHo.

Hi Norrie.. Not sure if you have the same MES control panel as ours or not, neon blue backlit display with "AS Motorhomes of excellence" displayed on it? think these were only used for a short time, but anyway we find upon entering the vehicle tapping the screen once brings on the strip lighting around the tops of the units, after this you can use the fob to switch on or off the strip lighting or the outside awning light until it seems the control panel goes into standby again, still trying to get used to ours to be honest
