Re: Check your overcab roof light
John, did you buy the van at the NEC Show? Are you able to share with us the name of that dealer?
Yes MotorPlus at Derby are one of the good guys.

Thanks John, They really shouldn't be in business at all.
We bought at The NEC Show through Dolphin Motorhomes, Christchuch on the south coast. Like MotorPlus another good helpful dealer. Andy Diggle was best, setting up the arrangement with MotorPlus at Derby which is a lot closer to us.

Re: Check your overcab roof light
Hi all I've just had a call from Mark at Auto Sleepers Willersley, they are having my van in for repair next month, I said that I had filled the holes myself and he said that it won't matter as they will grind out the filler I've used.
I can't thank enough Mark from Motor Plus Derby for all the time and effort that he has put into this for us, as said before they were not the dealer who we bought our van from.
I know where I will be going for our habitation check from now on, I hope all who need this repair are sorted out as quick as we are.
Regards,
John.

Re: Check your overcab roof light
Hi everyone, I too have just had a call from Mark at Auto-Sleepers to book our motorhome in next month, for these repairs to the GRP. I understand it will be with them for a week. I would also like to thank Mark at MotorPlus for taking up our cases with AS.
As John says, I hope others with these GRP issues, are dealt with as quickly as we have been.

Re: Check your overcab roof light
Hi everyone,
You are very welcome and it was also good of Auto Sleeper to react so quickly, one thing I would say is if you do have this problem please contact your dealer to let Auto Sleeper know and I would also recommend that you don't carry out the repairs as any ingress problems arising from it would not be covered by warranty.
Regards
Mark

Re: Check your overcab roof light
Looks like someone will be getting the ladder out today! Ours is 2013 so hopefully not affected. I do remember cleaning out the channel a while ago but didn't see any damage.

Just checked mine, all seems ok, looks like the standards are dropping on the newer models.....

Re: Check your overcab roof light
Just checked and have one each side . This is really a flipping pain. Can accept thing happen but the 400 mile round trip, costs and wasted time getting things sorted is what is so annoying.
Once out of warranty Motorplus looks like it will be a good port of call only 230 round trip.
Off to contact Mark at AS.

Re: Check your overcab roof light
Just heard back from Mark at AS and he would want for several days to rectify which is just not an option being 200 miles away. Travel, hotels etc etc nightmare. Wont take to Durham or Sheffield due to abismal quality of workmanship last visits.
Have asked if AS would approve local workshop as it really is a very simple repair job. Only worry is if there are other screws (or whatever is causing it) waiting to show their heads?
Really hacked off this time but hey ho seems to be par the course with new MH ownership.

Re: Check your overcab roof light
Totally agree with you. Ours goes in to AS on the 11th for a week, for this very problem. I suppose we are fortunate to be less than 50 miles from Willersey. My wife will be following me in the car. At least it is being done under warranty, but I will naturally want an assurance from AS that if we suffer the effects of water ingress in the future, caused by this hole on the black GRP roof being open to the elements for the best part of 16 months before it was discovered, that we are covered for any remedial work.

Re: Check your overcab roof light
Our's go's in on the 9th for a week as it had 3 holes in the gel coat roof, also 17 months open to the elements.

Re: Check your overcab roof light
Should A-S not be writing to all owners telling them to check? Do official re-calls apply to motorhomes? What if is was a safety issue, rather than water-ingress?

Re: Check your overcab roof light
Yes Peter, you would have thought AS would have started to write to owners to ask them to check, as there will be those out there who don't use the Forum and are completely unaware of this issue with the black GRP over the cab. This problem occurs under the cover of the roof light in possibly up to six spots where the internal fixing screws are located. As you know this narrow area on both sides of the roof light acts like a flat gutter allowing the water to escape off the roof and down the front onto the vehicle's screen. These breaks in the GRP could cause serious damp problems if not discovered quickly enough. So far from the Forum it appears to have only affected 2013/2014 models.

Re: Check your overcab roof light
I have not got the new Broadway but have been reading this thread with interest.
We went to the Shepton Mallett show today and there was a brand new unregistered Broadway so I went in and wound up the front skylight and with my hand felt the roof immediately above the left side fixing screw towards the rear of the van and lo and behold exactly the same problem.would you not think that a reputable company like A/ S should be contacting their dealers to check. Some poor unsuspecting person is going to buy this van. It was being sold by an A/S dealer.

Re: Check your overcab roof light
Ours has gone in to AS today for the work to be done. We spoke to Mark regarding the repair and as usual he was so helpful and obviously concerned that this problem is repaired properly. I think I spotted John's Broadway in the workshop area with the front roof window removed. Mark had a look at our problem and said that it was his intention that both vans would be worked on together to ensure consistency.
Moggyminor, if I were you I would contact Mark Burdett at AS Service Centre Tel No. 01386 853511 as soon as possible with what you have discovered on that Broadway at Shepton Mallet. I think it is very important that Mark and the AS factory are aware that possibly brand new 2015 Broadway motorhomes are continuing to have the same problem. Hopefully this will encourage AS to do the right thing, and as you suggested, to contact the dealers (and existing owners). Its very worrying that this is still occurring on new vans 18 months after we bought ours.

If it wasn't for charliefarlies polishing thread I wouldn't have found the original fault.
Hi Pete did you see the smoke damaged Broadway.

Me too John, it was when I was applying Collinite wax for the first time following charliefarlies thread.
There were a couple of 15 reg. Broadways in, but didn't see the smoked damaged one.

Re: Check your overcab roof light
I have been down to AS today and picked our Broadway up, Mark got out a long set of steps so that I could have a look at the repair, they've done a fantastic job.
I would like to thank Mark and his team for an excellent job done and I would like to give a special thank you to Mark at Motor Plus Derby who put in all his time and effort into this for me.
Thanks all,
John.
