Broadway EB kitchen sink draining
My Broadway EB (End Bathroom) model is very slow draining waste water from the kitchen sink. This is much worse when the front of the van is lower than the rear as the water has to flow up hill to the rear mounted waste tank. The pipe immediatly below the sink has an almost horizontal run.
Any suggestios for a cure please?

Thanks Ian!
I had thought of that! However, it is not always possible or desirable. Some people have suggested to remove the small "bottle trap" fitted under the sink. Has anyone found this helps?

They all do it. If you spin your finger to start a little whirlpool in the plug hole it will drain a lot faster.

I find using the palm of my hand over the hole and doing a plunger action causes a vortex and helps drain quicker, a tip given to me by Frank of Cotswold Motorhomes at handover.

I had the same tip from Frank - but he's a mean old skinflint!
We dug deep into the wallet and bought a tiny little sink plunger from the Pound Shop. When the flow slows down, a couple of enthusiastic pumps of the plunger works wonders.

I cut out the horizontal pipe work and bought some 28mm flexible pipe off ebay and I fitted a shorter piece of flexible in with a bend and jubilee clipped both ends. My sink now empties a lot quicker, beware of sink plunger as this is what I first used and it blew the sink waste seal and flooded out under the sink.
John.
Ps if you remove the bottle trap you will get smells coming back from the waste tank.

Hi John
I agree it is best to leave the trap to prevent smells. Any tips on doing this? It seems on looking at the existing pipe work that this is solid plastic and I assume glued into the trap, right angle bend and sink outlet. Did you have to replace the trap and sink outlet fiting?

To Rowleygreen from John Green.
There was no trap fitted to mine at all, and all the pipework was push fit, I fitted a trap myself and left a short piece of pipe attached. I cut the other pipe work back in the cupboard under the sink and I fitted the 28 mm flexible between the trap and where I'd cut back.
Before I fitted the jubilee clips I put a smear of silicone on the inside of the flexible and then tightend the jubilee clips up, this prevented any leaks from the flexible pipe.
John.

It sounds like you know what you are doing. Have you thought of offering your part time services to AS! Then maybe the rest of us wouldn't need to sort out these problems!Ps I'm a recently retired plumber heating engineer.
