Talbot Harmony Sliding Door Empty Talbot Harmony Sliding Door

Post by ames449 Sun Oct 09, 2011 4:49 pm

I dont know if it is just that I am a flipping weakling, but I cannot for the life of me open the sliding door of my Harmony AS from the inside. I've tried opening it with a hand either end of the door and pushing, i've tried pushing against it with my shoulder, Ive tried everything but once it is closed, I just cannot get it open at all. I have to get out of one of the other doors and open it from the outside. Anyone got any ideas what I am doing wrong?

not having kids, I didnt even think about it having a child lock on it! Is it just the same kind of flick switch as it is on a car door? I'll go have a look in a min and see if that does it. That could explain why no matter what I do it just aint budging.

Well, there doesn't seem to be anything that I can see which could be a childlock on the sliding door. scratch head

The rear of the door needs to move outwards before it will slide back. I presume that you are pushing it out at the rear? Also are you able to easily open it from the outside?

yup, i've tried that. There is a handhold in the material of the door on the rear end which i thought maybe was part of the mechanism to open the door but that doesn't help either. it just does not budge. It opens easily from the outside so I have no idea why it doesnt work from the inside. maybe i am just really weak, but i really cannot make it move an inch once i've shut it.

Hi,
I would GUESS that the internal door latch is not connected, remove inner trim with door shut and follow linkage from handle, if you can't see a problem ask fitters mate to open door from outside while you watch from inside scratch head

I think Chris is on the right track, the inner door latch handle on my Symphony is a fabricated Auto-Sleeper part rather than a Peugeot part. The rod connecting it to the lock mechanism may have come disconnected.
