Nuevo water pump
Our 2006 Nuevo with the Surflo pump is suffering from low pressure at the kitchen sink. Over the last 2 weeks it has got slowly worse and is now just a trickle. The cold is cycling about once a second and the hot is also very slow but the pump is not cycling. Cold and hot pressure is fine in at the bathroom sink and shower. Can't see any obvious obstructions in feed pipes to the tap. Should I try adjusting the pressure switch shut-off? Or is there a filter somewhere that might be blocked. Any suggestions?

You may find a filter in the tap, right at the spout end. If you can see a black insert, unscrew it and you'll see the filter.

Re: Nuevo water pump
Hi there,
1. The hot water won't make the pump "cycle" (i.e. rapid "On/Off") because there is an accumulator in the system.
2. Symptoms could be caused by:
a) A blocked filter somewhere. (Usually the cheapest and easiest thing the check and cure.)
b) A kink in the suction or discharge piping. (Very rare unless you have been moving stuff around.)
c) The discharge pressure switch faulty or just becoming maladjusted. (i.e. Pressure switch set too low.)
d) A diaphragm problem (possibly a split on one or two sections) within the pump that is getting worse.
This is a replacement diaphragm and the place to get other spares ....

.... but you would have to get your pump out to check before buying it.
Causes a) and b) above are my favourites in view of the description you gave.
Hope this helps.

Re: Nuevo water pump
Is it a monobloc tap in the kitchen?
Perhaps something is stopping it from fully opening.....hence poor flow in both hot and cold

Simplest things first. I couldn't see a black insert in the monoblock tap, but I noticed two 'flats' on the spout. The end of the tap can be unscrewed and there is a nylon mesh insert inside. Problem solved. Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions.

That's what I referred to, thought it was black but that's my kitchen tap at home. Glad you're now sorted.jeffg wrote:Simplest things first.
