usb / mp3 jack connectors
Hi
Our AutoSleeper Nuevo has a usb port for importing my cd collection - but I would like to connect in my mp3 player so that I can scan through my music listings and decide what will be played without repeatedly skipping through the usb port options. Normally I would use an Aux port but the AutoSleeper doesn't have one. Am I right in thinking that a normal usb 2 to 3.5mm jack connector lead will be what I need and that the software in the motorhome radio will support this kind of connection.
Any thoughts would be good to hear.

Re: usb / mp3 jack connectors
Hi
Interesting question but by the lack of replies I assume nobody has tried it. Whether a 3.5mm jack to USB lead will work depends on how USB is implemented in the Nuevo.
I don’t own a Nuevo so I don’t know what‘s installed and I can’t actually answer the question but in general:
The lead will incorporate an analogue to digital /digital to analogue converter chip. If the system has the functionally to read /write the chip It should work the way you want it to but if it only has the option to open a digital music file it probably won’t.
Normally the user manual should tell you what functions are available. You need an option to play (or record) from USB, if you have to open a file or create a play list it won’t work because there is no way (usually) of getting at the file system through the analogue headphone socket.
Just for anyone interested here is the sort of thing that will be incorporated into the lead:

Hi Brod
Thanks for you very well considered reply to my question. I'm not sure what the usb socket software will support so I think that I will talk to AutoSleeper themselves and ask them my question. I will of course "post" here their answer.
Cheers again.

mp3 to jack
Following my question re. mp3 to jack connection, I contacted my local Peugeot dealer (as my Autsleeper is on a Peugeot Boxer chassis) and they said that the radio had to be "compatible" with an mp3 player - but couldn't say whether it would be or not! So I went ahead and spent all of £1.99 on such a lead from eBay and found that it didn't work!! However the lead that connects the mp3 to my computer IS recognised by the Boxer radio, albeit rather crudely. It seems that I have to be content with that.
