First major trip!
Hi all, just a few lines to say that we've just had an amazing 2+ weeks in Orkney, our first big venture.
I just love the freedom. We met some lovely people from Filey, some other forum members, at the campsite at Stromness.
Everyone has been really kind, even the young man at the Ferry at Gill's Bay, who asked me to reverse onto the boat!!!!!! Didn't see that one coming. But he laughed when I asked him if he had plenty of time to allow me the manoeuvre. All went well, it was such a relief.
Lots of wild camps, very moody mixed weather, lots of heritage sites visited, what a superb place.
Then we had another lovely week working our way down the west coast, beautiful scenery.
All in all, a first class journey.
Just the one hiccup, when I set off with the fridge door unlocked!! Ha ha! Hopefully won't do that again.
Heidi.

Hi John, yes they were driving a Nuevo, think it was 2007 reg. They'd been on the move since the end of April and were starting to head home. This was the beginning of June.Jaytee wrote:Great to hear loads more adventures to come. Where the Filey people in a MH? (No not us we are en route to France at mo )

Am new to this , so will take better notice in future and maybe even ask names etc.
Lovely people all the same, and as usual very helpful.

Re: First major trip!
Well done Heidi, sounds like a great trip. We just got back from our first few days away in the new van but took the cowards way out and kept it relatively "local". We still had a cracking time, met some lovely folk, and the plans for where we venture in future are well under way. When I said cracking, it reflects how much we enjoyed ourselves, It could also refer to the damage that we did to the Fireangel Smoke alarm, which clearly thought it was an intruder alarm, cup of hot tea alarm and a someone opening the toilet door alarm. A new, proper "smoke" alarm will be fitted before our next journey

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.
Well done to Askit on your first trip, doesn't matter how far you go!
Scotland is my favourite place to date so it had to be my first van venture.
Busy planning a visit to Brittany for August.
Bit nervous about this, but if I can reverse onto a ferry, I can manage anything.
Sure they said Filey, Boaby. Made me think of when I finished walking the Cleveland Way, but then I do have 'senior' moments now!!! Could be anywhere on the east coast? Ha ha!
