Hi,
What do experienced Symbol owners do regarding sleeping arrangements.
We have 2 infill cushions (no middle one) and like the idea of 2 singles, but the cushions take up such a lot of storage space that we have slept across the van mostly. (Our van is 2003)
We have had the van for a couple of months now and really enjoy it, but cant make up our minds regarding the bed configuration.
Thanks

Daisy-dog and I always use the double bed going across the van that way we don't need any extra cushions if that's any use.

Thanks Greensquares, thats what we have done a couple of times.  The infill cushions take up so much space.

We use this configuration, drop the side sliding door seat and remove the cushion behind the TV panel. Turn the passenger front seat around and move forward. One bed done although your feet are slightly raised.
Use the infill cushion from behind the TV panel and extend the front tip over section (arm rest) and insert the cushion. To do this pull the drivers seat right up to the dash. All that remains is to pull out the offside bench seat and you have a gangway to go to the loo.
Hope this makes sense. All the other cushions go in the loft.

Best regards, Mike   courtesy

Thanks Mike.
From your description, I'm not sure that our cushions are exactly the same (3 years difference in age).  What size of infill cushion do you keep behind your nearside seat ?
(Our van should have 3 cushions but we only have the 2 smaller ones)

The idea of using the base of the front passenger seat as part of the bed is great. Must try it out.

Hi Carver,

The infill cushion in question is small, 500x120x260 with a flap and fits over the habitation battery once the armrest has been dropped over thus extending the sleeping area on the offside.

We always turn the passenger seat whilst parked as it increases the room inside the van and allows the pole table to be used at meal times with one person sitting on each side.

Hope this helps but maybe the cushions have been changed.

Thanks Mike,
Yes, it appears that things changed slightly.  We do not have what you call an arm rest, so our infill cushion is larger in one dimension to fill the same gap above the leisure battery.
As a slight aside, how do you cope with the cab seat being higher than the other seat when using the small table ?  This is our first van and we have only had it for a couple of months so still learning.
thanks

Hi Carver,

So the infill cushion has changed and the armrest has been done away with. Does the infill cushion lay directly on the battery then?
Re the cab seat, you should be able to adjust the height of the seat.  There is a leaver  to do this on the side of the seat or well there is on ours.
Enjoy the van, we have had ours for three years and love it. Its quite small but fits in lots of small places.

Thanks Mike
Our infill cushion sits on the rear of the seat runners, so is an inch or so above the battery.
Unfortunately our passenger seat does not have a height adjustment, so is about 3 inches higher than the side seat.  Without a box or small step it is not possible to put your feet on the floor in the habitation part of the van.
However, so far we love it !

Hi again Carver,
so its been changed, oh well looks like a small platform on the habitation floor is the only answer.
Still you should now be able to sleep lengthways in the van and have access to the loo.

We make up a double and sleep across no infill cushions needed. Lots more storage.
