Food for thought Empty Food for thought

These two short sentences tell you a lot about our governments and our culture:-

1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners and bikers by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works.

2. Seems we constantly hear about how the Old Age Pension Plan could run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare and illegal immigration support running out of money? What's interesting is that the first group "worked for" their money, but the second group didn't

This was a quote from somewhere (can't remember who sent it) not of my own making I hasten to add.

Hiya,

I had guns ranging from air-pistols to full-bore rifles for most of my life, I rode motorbikes (the last one was a Pan European) for about fifty years and I paid into the NI system copious amounts of money .... up!

.... so you may have a stab at where my thoughts are straying. Whistle1

Also, you can add on to the list of moans ....

.... I can't buy saltpetre for curing home-made bacon and corned beef from my local chemist; but it's available from the Internet .... shrugg

.... the small safety knife that I have used for over thirty years is now a "banned weapon" for carrying which I am liable to go to jail. shrugg

"Why??" you ask. scratch head scratch head

Well mainly because they think I might blow someone up or stab someone; despite the fact that ....

.... although potassium nitrate (saltpetre) CAN be used to make a low-grade explosive it's main use is to prevent botulism in preserved meat ....

.... the "locking blade" on the knife is to prevent it from closing and cutting my fingers; not to allow me to stab someone with it!

I can think of many more laws where politicians have responded with a knee-* Inappropriate Word * reaction that tackles a "symptom" and not a "disease". think_smiley_46

In their defence, what more can we expect?  scratch head  Most of our politicians have never had a real job or been out in the real world.  shrugg

Best regards,

Hey - just discovered that J - E - R - K  is an "inappropriate word" as in "knee j-e-r-k" reaction.

Now who thought that one up?

You can add that to my list of moans because I'm off to have a gay old time smoking some home-cured bacon and boiling up some home-cured corned beef.  Or will I find out that "G-A-Y" is now an inappropriate word?

Here goes!
