Duetto and Symbol
I have seen quite a few Duettos and Symbols which I like. Many have a 3rd belted seat but not a 3rd berth. Can one add one for a child?

You can hammock-style bunk beds that fit across the cab for Transits, so you probably can for a Boxer too.

Thank you, so I don't have to rule out a 2 berth 'van.

I am sure that there are ones with a over cab bed.

Re: Duetto and Symbol
Our 2003 Symbol has a collection of very heavy boards which fit across the interior on the ledge at head height. They are now in our small bedroom/junk room. They take up all of the over cab space so not very practical. How about a pup tent or small awning?

Re: Duetto and Symbol
Same as our 1999 Symbol. We have two covered boards, but no mattresses. Ours live in the attic! They would take the weight of a child but severely limits the interior space. What about trying to fit a bunk (two poles and some fabric) somewhere? We had some in previous elevating roofed campers - our children loved sleeping in them; and they rolled up and out of the way.
