My Peugeot Boxer 2001 Vivanti (AutoSleeper) motorhome has an intermittent problem.  When starting from cold the 'code key' light goes out promptly and we can start without problems.   However often when starting after a short stop, like at a service area or fuel stop, the light refuses to go out, resulting in a non starting engine.  Any ideas or has anyone else had this problem?

In the absence of a reply on this forum I thought I would pass on what I have found from others.  This problem seems to afflict a lot of pre common rail Peugeot diesels.  The answer it to either replace the whole system & ECU at your dealer for over £1K or to immobilise the immobiliser.   This entails removing some of the electronics from the injection pump, it is a job for a diesel specialist due to the construction of the pump.   I was quoted £400 by the local Peugeot dealer but a local specialist is doing it for me and changing the belts for £250.   Then I will install an alarm system to keep the insurance happy.   Then I will be able to stop and start when I want too - hopefully!
