AUTO SLEEPER FLAIR
Hi I have just been reading the post on the Autosleeper Frisky, and how many were made. It got me wondering the same about my Autosleeper Flair. I have had mine now about three months and I am enjoying it although a lot smaller than my last which was a Ford minibus which I converted. Anybody with info on how many were made would be appreciated.
Thanks........Bruce

Re: AUTO SLEEPER FLAIR
AFAIK A-S never published production figures for any of their older vans - I don't know why not. But I suspect that, as the Flair was mainly produced in parallel with the Duetto, the numbers were a fraction of the production numbers of the larger vehicle. I reckon I see around 10 or more Duettos for every Flair that I come across.
When I first looked at the Flair I could not understand why it was so much less popular than the Duetto - given that the floor area available is roughly the same, and the shower area takes up a disproportionate amount of space for what is a relatively small van. However, I think the fact is that (for whatever reason) many people who want a small van ~without~ a shower tend to go for the VW-style layout with rock&roll bed - hence the relative popularity of the Trooper and Trident.

Re: AUTO SLEEPER FLAIR
I have an 'Autosleeper Flair' (25 yr old Transit) 4 birth, had it since easter, and love it, needs a few bits n bobs doing to bring it back to standard. Ie propex heater, water pump and tank and boiler , its got loads of room when its just the two of us, and when we take the kids we have a side awning, its a great design well laid out.

Hi glad you are enjoying your Flair. We got ours about the same time as you, and like you bits to get done. It had an engine change from a petrol to a diesel so any new parts were a bit tricky as it always came up as a petrol model with the registration number. However new clutch, diesel pump, lift pump, new tyres, welding, underseal, starter motor and we were mobile and enjoying getting about. We found that the bed was very lumpy so got a combined air bed /sleeping bag from Argos and it is brilliant.
Anyway glad your enjoying yours. If I can help at all get in touch and loads of help here.................Regards Bruce and Irene (Glasgow)
