Hab door locked-unable to open AS Devon 2011
Hi all, we somehow have our hab door locked and cannot open it with either remote or key. We can hear the central locking try but the door just stays locked. We can enter thru cab door fine . Any ideas please???

If you have a search through the forum David, I think the subject van was a Broadway there was a few options thrown about.
I am not at home at the moment otherwise would have had a decco for you.
When it happened to our door it was a spring on one of the locking arms.

I thought we'd got you sorted David.
I suppose you can pull up the little plunger thing on the door manually.
Looks like you might have to look for another broken wire.
I presume you have cleaned the contact faces as Peter recommended?

So did I Derek!! This is a "jammed" problem. The hab door will not
open whatever we do. The little button will come up but something is jammed stopping the door from moving. The contacts are ok( you can hear the Central locking clunk in the door frame, but it wont move.
The key turns fine in lock but does not free the lock.
Got the feeling something isnt moving as it should in the door mechanism.
PS: the door will not open from inside or out ,with key or C locking, or by lifting up button on top of lock inside van.

Ouch!
Recall reading at various times about rods or springs coming detached.........
...........but if you can't open the door................
Hope there are some better brains than mine out there.

That now sounds like my broken spring with it being inside and out plus you can hear the CLS working on the door

Re: Hab door locked-unable to open AS Devon 2011
Thanks gentlemen, all seems sorted now. Last evening we were proudly showing our new to us Devon to my brother, and on trying to enter the hab door it just refused to budge. Very embarrassing it was, never happened before. Having earlier this week sorted the "wires off" fault giving C locking back to hab door, I feared the worst.
This morning my wife pushed from inside, whilst I attempted to open from outside. We were scared of snapping off the outside handle!
Anyway , with a bit of tugging it suddenly came open to our relief. I have applied WD40 to all moving parts and it now seems fine.
I would like to check the door hinges for tightness, how do the plastic hinge covers come off?? Scared of breaking one!
Thanks for speedy suggestions last night gents
Regards David

You get at the top two hinges by opening the window in the door. The cover on the bottom one is held on by two torx headed screws accessible when the door is fully open. The thin plastic these screws are in will not keep a thread and you can expect to see some sort of sealant/adhesive inside the hinge cover keeping the screws in.

Re: Hab door locked-unable to open AS Devon 2011
David,
It is very common for the hinges to be loose on the fixing to the door itself.
This causes physical door jambing (which I suspect was your issue) and mis-alignment of the central locking contacts.
Follow Peter's instructions to remove the 3 plastic covers then you will need a hex Allen key to tighten up the fixing to the door.
A bit of thread seal can be applied to the Allen bolts but I still check and torque them up each year.

Thank you Ken, I have indeed found exactly that, All door hinge fixings loose ( seems odd they only use one per hinge?) I will obtain some thread seal tomoz.
Thank you Peter, you were indeed correct re the bottom hinge cover screws, they just pulled out with my fingers! I adhered a small fillet inside to strengthen the screw grip.
Love the van, its just the silly little things................
