clean water fill pipe
when i fill my 1998 symphony i get water dropping from bottom of van so think the pipe must be split somewhere
has anyone replaced the pipe whats the easy way to do it i cant see to get the outside filler cap and surround off as i dont want to force it
how easy is it to take the internal panels off?

Are you sure its not the tank overflow? the only way to tell that the tank is full is to wait until it overflows.

Hi.
I think the filler on the Symphony is further forward than on the Duetto but I assume the system is basically the same in that the pipe is connected to the filler than takes a sharp bend, goes through the floor and is attached to the tank.
I had a damaged section in mine. The main symptom was water leaking out of the pipe when going round corners (i.e. coming back from the tank). It was less noticeable when filling.
My problem was that the heater was in the way and there insufficient clearance to get the pipe off. I decided to tackle it when I had a bit more time and as a temporary measure covered the split with self amalgamating tape. No trouble since and the “temporary” measure is still in place some four years later.

Mine is sealed with silicone or similar. I didn’t attempt to remove it for fear of damaging the bodywork and creating more work.magicknight75 wrote: has anyone replaced the pipe whats the easy way to do it i cant see to get the outside filler cap and surround off as i dont want to force it
Not sure about the Symphony but on the Duetto (probably similar) access is just a matter of removing the bench seat (about half a dozen screws on the underside of the front edge of the seat), and then some insulation.magicknight75 wrote: how easy is it to take the internal panels off?

Re: clean water fill pipe
My Duetto had 4 vents in the top of the tank but the floating seal plugs were missing causing water to depart on braking. I had it modified to the method shown in the picture above. The existing vents in the tank were sealed and a new connection made to the vent in the filler as is the blue pipe in the picture. When the tank was full the overflow came out of the filler vent hole.

Re: clean water fill pipe
Hi,
Recently replaced the water pipe on our 03 symbol (after melting a hole in it whilst welding up rusty sill)
The pipe I used was 40mm dia off Ebay got 2meters just to safe. The biggest problem was the sealant holding on the filler cap. Had to remove the inner trim panels to get at the back of the cap to scrape off the sealant.
Once the cap was free I taped the new pipe to the old covered the pipes in grease then then pulled the whole lot through.
Hope this is of some help
Tom

Re: clean water fill pipe
thanks for all the help
the pipe seems to be a 35mm pipe that i couldn't find anywhere so upgraded to a 40mm pipe and new fiamma cap with 40mm outlet and pullet the rest through then sleeved the tank end before sealing
all ok so far

Re: clean water fill pipe
Had to do mine as well so if anyone is wondering what the parts look like here are some picks.

Had to persuade it to come away from the bodywork, a wood drift and a good thump from behind did the trick.

Auto sleepers parts dept have at time of writing 25mtrs of the pipe in stock.

Took the screws out of mine but it wouldn't shift - too much of a coward to give it a thump though!

Just in case it helps anyone else in the future, this is a good place to buy all sorts of hose:

Under 'Automotive and Marine hose' there's a fuel filler hose which looks like this (in the pics) and comes in a few diameters. Also plenty of actual water hoses in the appropriate section. I've bought standard radiator hose sections off them to replace unobtainable bits on the Trafic, and they were good quality and reasonably priced.
