I removed my corner steads from my 09 sigma today, the weight for the two were 11.8 kgs worth knowing if you're struggling for weight. Deka  allthumbz

Hi, I was thinking of removing my corner steadies until this weekend. Saturday night I was parked on grass (Camp Site) and during the night it rained heavy. In the morning the ground was very wet. During the day we entered and exited the motorhome Nervo) many times.   My front wheels were on ramps.
When I came to move it on the Monday morning I went to reverse off and the rear wheels started spinning. When I did get free I noticed the rear wheels had sunk about 50mm into the ground.

My next pitch was on wet grass so I decided to use the corner steadies.  When I came to move off all was OK. The rear wheels had not sunk. Therefore I will be leaving mine on for when I park on grass.

A lighter solution to this would be to buy a couple of yellow plastic skidmats. We always put them under the wheels when we have any doubts about the surface we are pitching on and we always put them under the levelling blocks to stop the blocks cutting into the ground.  Fingers crossed, we've never sunk into grass in 36 years.

( Of course...you know what will happen next...! )

We have always used the yellow mats on the front wheels but never on the rear wheels.

They do make a difference when you're parked, especially if you're not going to move for a few days.  We have 2 sets and park on them on both the back and front wheels if the surface is at all iffy. They're not bad for their intended purpose as skid mats either !

Hmm, good idea that  up! Have used them in front of wheels when traction was dodgy but will park on them from now on. Especially when in the field by the house as a tonne per back wheel is inclined to sink after a week or so. Good one, tnx. allthumbz

I always use the rear steadies when parked up on our driveway. Just think it takes the strain off the suspension as many Nuevo mk2's seem to "sag" and look very low at the back. Whether due to this our 5 year old van sits nice and level even when fully laden.
Just seems that as something like 90/95% of the time the van sits at home waiting for the next trip and just to ease a little of the weight from the springs must help them from loosing there tension.
Food fro thought!
