Re: Leaking skirt locker in new van
Sorry to hear of the leak lucasg and hope it is soon fixed. The area of water inlet in ours was so small that water entered by capillary action almost. A socking big hole would have been easy to diagnose but all credit to AS that they found it and fixed it and, most creditable of all, and unlike manufacturers of a previous MH we owned, they did not try to make out there was no problem or that it was our fault. They're a good, honest firm to deal with.

Wet locker
As i understand it this skirt locker is a wet locker. Mine gets wet inside and there is a drain hole under the rubber for excess water to escape. I use it as a wet locker. For me this works well as this locker is sealed from the internals of the van thus no issue putting checks and boots etc in.
Of course i could be missinformed but for me it is a wet locker.

Re: Leaking skirt locker in new van
A wet locker is just for wet gear ,not for water to get in it, that is a fault, how can you store tools etc when it has water in it, I have a wet locker and mine is as dry as a bone, also numerous caravans over the years have had dry "wet lockers "
I wouldn`t want to put my boots into water, idea is to put them in the wet locker so they don`t get mud etc on anything else.

Nevertheless, if your Broadway is reasonably new, you have a right to expect the locker to be dry inside, no matter how you use it.

Re: Leaking skirt locker in new van
Still got a leaking "Wet Locker" on our new Nuevo. AS supplied an extra seal to go around the door and this was fitted by Marquis Durham. Locker still leaks - so I sealed up the door with masking tape having sealed up the two drain holes with Blu-Tak and after a rain shower the locker was wet again. Unfortunately I can only park the van in one direction and this is on a slope to the near-side so the water cannot drain out of the drain holes. I have now been told by Marquis that the condensation caused by this leak has affected the wooden floor above which is the bottom of the seat box. The van is less than 5 months old and I have got damp registering inside the van.
Anyone got any ideas how water can enter this wet locker when all the external access points have been sealed????

Re: Leaking skirt locker in new van
I would be looking for a water leak under the seat base as there is quite a bit of pipe work under there.
I wouldn't think this was caused by condensation, also check that the Truma boiler is not leaking.
John.

Thanks John, but the wet locker is on the other side of the van to the heater and all the pipework associated with it. There is nothing between the bottom of the seat base box and the "wet locker".

Re: Leaking skirt locker in new van
Mine leaked like an old lock gate so I bought some self adhesive rubber foam square section seal and put all round the top and sides. Took a couple of trials with seal size and adjusting the locks to pull it in tighter but all now appears OK

We seemed to have the same problem ( see earlier posts) in that we thought we had sealed everything up and could not see where the water was getting in. Effectively it was getting in, by capillary action, as the box itself flexed when the van moved. AS put in more support, externally, under the box and, touch wood, all has been well since this was done.
Good luck in getting yours sorted. At least, small mercy, the damp wood you have is presumably easily replaced and there is no damage with the walls of the van but that could follow unless it is sorted.

Can you quote exact rule link
If you could post the exact link to this statement it would be very helpful...all I can find is large external skirt locker (underfloor mounted)hoopman wrote:Wet locker? Well not according to the A/S website.

If you click on the locker 'feature buttons' .......it provides weatherproof storage for outdoor accessories.... It even mentions tools!
If mine I'd go back to the dealer and if no joy straight to A/S.
It's not difficult to design an outside locker that doesn't let water in.
John
I too have the same problem and I am getting the standard.. It's a wet locker it will leak. I have asked for the brace to be fitted and been told that AS do not authorise this?
I agree with all the sentimnents.. Why would you buy a van with a storage locker that has a permanent layer of water in the base.. Even the drain holes don't work on mine

That's nonsense ! AS DID ours, and it worked.
I would ring AS service direct and tell them the problem, and your dealers responses. We have always found them very helpful.

Re: Leaking skirt locker in new van
I had water under the rubber mat in that skirt locker, on a March 2015 Nuevo. When at Willersey for air-rides, I asked for it to be sorted, and siad that I'd read on this forum about the fitting of bracing. I was told that the barcing was for a different issue, and mine needed adhesive-backed foam strip around the door. That was done. I need to check whether it cured the problem, and shall report. If it didn't, then I shall raise the issue again.
It so happens that the angle at which my Nuevo is parked at home causes the roof water to run down the side of the vehicle, to the fwd of the n/s window; it then runs to the cill above that skirt locker; and then emerges on the skirt beneath the locker to the ground. It must therefor run within the frame of the locker - but (I hope) without getting beyond the seal and thereby into the locker. We'll see!
