How to flood the Warwick Duo

Thanks to everyone who pointed at the bathroom.  Here is the current theory...

We got black algae in the toilet flush so I changed from pink rinse to Fenwicks Top & Tail.
Then lots of dead looking black algae flushed out so I decided to clean the flush water tank.
I disconnected the drain pipe from the level tube aka sight glass and connected it to a drain pipe.
Then I used a hose to pour clean water into the flush tank filler until my drain pipe ran clean.
Sorted I thought.

I now realise that the flush tank just overflows into the bottom of the van.
  
What sort of plumbing has no overflows?  Pete

Oops! thanks for telling us, hard lesson to learn, hope you have dried it out now, I will remember that one.

HiPete,bad luck that, cleaning out that tank is something I have thought about, so did you find the best way to do it..cheers..Algy

I think that this is the best way to do it but obviously with less enthusiasm.
The flush tank capacity is 15 litres so just flush through less than that...

When I overfilled the flush tank in the Duetto, it overflowed into the toilet bowl. In the Duetto, the toilet faced the other way (you sit facing the front, not the rear of the van), so is this part of the problem? I am surprised that overfilling the flush would cause water to flow onto the floor.

Racking my brains to remember where I was and how I missed this one!

Because "Petal's" flush tank overflows into the bowl I try to remember (and often fail) to leave the toilet blade open after emptying and refilling; until we get to our next stop.

Obviously, experience being such a great teacher, this was AFTER I had filled up the flush tank, set off for pastures new and upon arrival discovered that the toilet bowl had filled with flush water and subsequently overflowed onto the shower floor!!

Luckily, because we use Bio-Laundry Liquid, all it did was give the shower-room carpet an impromptu wash!

I never put any chemicals in the toilet flush. What you experienced is typical of what happens. I only use clean fresh water and never get algae developing. There is enough chlorine in tap water to keep the system clean. This also applies to the fresh water tank. I never apply a chemical rinse as this can cause corrosion with the hot water heater element. Again, there is enough chlorine in tap water to keep your entire system including the pipes clean. I make sure I empty the tank when we get home and if there has been prolonged use I will fill the tank, turn on all the taps including the shower to flush the system through and then drain it and refill it. Ready to go. We always drink the water from the motorhome tap and never had any problem to date. Still alive after 30 years.
