Owners manuals Empty Owners manuals

Post by Dragonman Sat Dec 14, 2013 7:59 pm

I've just become the happy owner of a Fiat Ducato-based Auto-Sleeper (with the 1.9 diesel engine), first registered in January 1994, with only 43K on the clock. The only snag is that it came without an Owners Manual, so I'm having a bit of difficulty figuring out how it all works (including how to construct the beds!). I don't know which form of Auto-Sleeper it is - there's nothing on the bodywork to tell me.

If it helps, it's a 4 berth, with a toilet, washbasin and shower combined. It is also surprisingly well equipped with storage for wine bottles! The water and other connections are on a panel inside the nearside rear door and the switches for all the electricals are on the offside inner wall above the hob and grill.

So I have two questions:
1. How can I tell which model I have?
2. Does anyone have or know where I can get an Owners Manual - not for the Fiat Ducato van base, but for the conversion?

Cheers everyone!

Look in the glove box and you may find the A-S build number. Then ring Auto-Sleepers and they should be able to help you with the model details. ASOC may have a manual that you can borrow but you will need to join.

I doubt if you will find a build number as Autosleeper have only built 6 vans on Fiat chassis and they were Broadways a couple of years ago.

How about posting a photo or two so's we can have a look?
Are you absolutely sure it's a Fiat Ducato and not a Talbot Express?

Are you sure it's an Auto-sleeper brand or are you using 'Autosleeper' as the generic term for any campervan. I don't know of one of 1994 vintage that has storage for wine bottles. To have no model name on the van also makes me wonder if it is a genuine Autosleeper.

I was going to say that, too, I thought Autosleeper always wrote the name on the side and AS across the front.

My Talbot Symphony is 1994 and has wine bottle storage (not much good, though, it only holds 3 bottles  winks ).

I got an owners manual from Autosleeper for a previous van and they do them back to about 1990 or 91. It cost me £13. Just give them a call.

Thanks for all the advice. I've now managed to identify my van as a (very late!) 1993 Harmony and it's definitely a genuine AutoSleeper on a Ducato (not Talbot, although I think I may be correct in saying that they're probably the same thing with a different badge!) chassis - there are a number of them with identical conversions to be found on the internet. And I confess that I'd mis-identified some of the fittings as wine bottle fittings - they're for cups or mugs!!
I've also emailed AutoSleeper for a handbook, in PDF if that's simplest. If they fail, anyone out there got a 1993 Harmony handbook I could borrow to photocopy? Trust me - I'm a vicar (no, really - I AM a vicar!!).
Whatever, I'm off wild camping in the spring, so I have until then to sort out the niggles.

How like a vicar to mistake a cup rack for a wine bottle holder.  Would that be something to do with the 4th Sunday in Advent? content

I know this post was 6 months ago, just wondering if you managed to get the manual from AS. If not I have the original manual for my 1994 Harmony, it is a talbot but I think the manual is generic as some things are not 100% right for my vehicle, but nearly all the info is pretty close. I can scan it for you if you want, just let me know.

Dragonman has not visited this site since December 2013, so we can probably take it that his vehicle was not a genuine AS after all.

Hi keswickgypsey and welcome to the forum. You will get better response to your query by starting a new thread with the appropriate title than resurrecting a 4 year old thread on owners manuals.

The water pump on our 2011 Symbol is mounted on the side of the oven cupboard and accessed under the offside settee. You have to remove the cover which covers the battery, water heater and dump valve. You can then access the water pump.

Hope this helps ... Jeff

Since my post of 2013 quoted above, I now understand that the occasional fiat chassis was used in the distant past. Factory records were destroyed in the fire of 1992.

My vehicle is a Hi Top on a Ducato 14 chassis of 1991 vintage with a 1.9td engine and is a Harmony. This is classed as a 4 berth with far more available storage space than the 2 berth Symphony. The wine storage in the Hi Top Symphony consists of large steel clips which are supposed to secure the bottles and are behind the drivers seat. In the Harmony there is a proper slide out wine storage with a glass rack as well. I have the original Owners handbook as well should any one require information.
