sat nav with Broadway EK Luton model
Hi
Does anyone with an overcab bed Broadway use a sat nav? I was thinking of buying one through caravan club but was concerned that the Luton cab might interfere with the satellite reception.

Re: sat nav with Broadway EK Luton model
No problems at all for me. My iPhone on it's own works ok and the pioneer system built in has a separate GPS receiver which simply sits in the corner of the dashboard by the windscreen - it occasionally loses the signal but pretty rarely to be honest
A system without an external aerial fitted into the dash might cause issues. Hope that helps
Edit - last sentence, just to clarify - I mean a "built in" system with no external aerial. Sensible placement of the latter helps. The corner placement gets signals from the side and up as well as forward. There are usually about 11 satellites in view so a signal should be easy to get

By way of comparison, I successfully use a TomTom, mounted on the windscreen, in the Clubman, the Luton top of which projects fully over (and shields) the windscreen and is not low profile - and is usually filled with various items. It has no effect whatsoever on the TomTom.
The Luton top is an integral part of the monocoque bodyshell, which is made of GRP: I don't know from what material your vehicle's Luton is made.

It feels like GRP - come to think of it, the previous Tom Tom worked in both the Broadway and the old Lunar, which had a alloy roof. Enough satellites in view even with the roof, I suppose

BTW - before you buy the satnav that the Caravan Club are pushing, put the make/model info into an internet search. I was thinking of getting one a while back, but the customer reviews at the time were really bad!
