Hi everyone,
Having just retired, we've recently bought a 2009 Symbol (our first motorhome) and have just had 3 weeks round Scotland in it, plus odd weekends. Amazing to be able to go where we want, when we want, with no kids in tow! Suits us well and only minor problems seem to be poor radio reception and digital TV signal sometimes breaking up. We live near Nottingham and our next trip planned is a month in Sweden in August / September.

Hi Alwyn and welcome to the Forum
There's plenty of Symbol owners on here for you to share advice with.
Please let me know how you get on in Sweden as Scandinavia is where I hope to go on a long trip when I retire _ Soon I hope !
Cheers

Welcome to the forum.
How are you going to Sweden - direct ferry or via Calais. About 5 years ago we went to Denmark via Calais and almost decided to drive over to Sweden whilst we were so close relatively. I imagine that the bridge/tunnel joining Sweden to Denmark will be something to see.

Hi Squip,
We're going Harwich to Esbjerg, then driving across Denmark and the Oresund bridge. We've done it before by car and it's a straightforward journey. I did cost it out a few months ago and even paying for the cabin on board for a night it was no dearer than ferry to Calais etc. then driving, with diesel the price it is. We've also flown from Stansted to Copenhagen then train across the bridge to Malmo and hire car from there (our eldest son lives in Malmo hence the regular trips!). The bridge is certainly impressive, part tunnel, part bridge, with the railway running under the road. This year we're planning going up the east Baltic coast as far as Stockholm, spending some time there and then back via the huge inland lakes.
Sweden's worth a visit, with massive forests, lakes and wide open spaces, although without the variety of scenery you get in the UK or other parts of Europe. From our experience the weather's usually more settled than here in Southern Sweden from May through to August. First time in the van though so haven't experienced the camp sites yet.
Cheers,
Alwyn
