Hello
Hi there,
Recently acquired - after long time searching .... 1996 Autosleeper Talent (VW T4 based). We are currently 'making "Sleepy" or own'. She is in great condition with only 60K miles and totally original having had
only one owner since Feb 1997. After only 4 days of ownership, we are already smitten:loveheart: although the rusty rails under the Thetford C1 (or is it 2) do need changing.... quick.
Why did we get a camper? Mokerhome Talent goes a way to explain.... we are keen Mini Moke owners and go to many rallies.... driving our Mokes, and pitching our tents.... and setting up the campingaz cooker and forgetting the gas refills for the lamp and..... spending hours setting up and breaking camp..... furthermore, driving a 1964 Moke with no seatbelts from Oxford to The Lakes at 55Mph does take it out of you, especially with our unpredictable weather:so_sad:
So... plan B, drive the tent and tow the Moke:lol4:
Why the Autosleeper talent? Well, we thought it was simply the best layout in the most compact package. Wanted a T4, but NOT 'custom style' with boudoir style red and black checkered floor, 20" alloys and Maltese cross bonnet bra, tried rock n roll beds - not big enough (for sleeping anyway), wanted a loo, but not a shower....., wanted a SWB for easy drive and parking.... Talent fits the bill... shame it isn't made anymore. Wasn't an easy find either....
Why join the forum? We are quite keen to keep our Talent as original as possible - although the light blue velour floral seating material is a source of some amusement and discussion. Our van is 17 years old and we are new to this game. Would like to find out about other owner's experiences, help to find spares and solve technical issues. Above all, to share ideas and see what others do with their AS....

Re: Hello
Many thanks for the kind replies. Today will see us putting all the usual 'stuff' in the 'bus' as well as replacing a broken table retainer clip. It will probably turn into another all day discovery session. Must work out why my smileys have turned out as text instead of jolly bouncing yellow things :confused3:preview seems OK....
