Rienza Leaking Shower Tap ?
We appear to have a leak on the bathroom shower tap in our Rienza which runs into the wardrobe. This may mean taking the bathroom to pieces.
Anyone had any experience of doing this or any ideas how to set about the problem??? Thanks.

Re: Rienza Leaking Shower Tap ?
COULD be the core within the tap has cracked due to residue water freezing over the winter. The core which consists of the valves for Off/on is replaceable just like a domestic tap and is readily available. This happened to me a couple of years ago. DON'T DISMANTLE THE WARDROBE YET !!!' Prise out the wee red/blue button on the tap lever and then remove the exposed grub screw with a suitable hex bit. Lift off the lever and the valve core is exposed. Unscrew to examine or replace.
Hope this helps.......... Bob.

Re: Rienza Leaking Shower Tap ?
Just a further thought ...... you say that the water is leaking into the wardrobe. The shower tap is almost on a level with the wardrobe floor so would be leaking downwards, not sideways into the wardrobe. I had a leak from the wardrobe base, which I detected outside the vehicle, and this was caused by a cracked pump housing in the base of the wardrobe. The pump is situated under the wardrobe floor, and when I switched it on and it pressurised, I could hear a "drip drip" from below. If I switched the pump off and de-pressurised it by opening a tap, the drip stopped. The cracked housing was frost damage. To replace, the wardrobe floor has to be unscrewed and lifted out. The Shurflo pump is then clearly visible so you would be able to see a leak. Shurflo spares are readily available .... I used Marcle Leisure. If you search:
http://www.marcleleisure.co.uk/store/pumps-pump-spares-c-23_65.html.
you should get a good diagram and spare parts list.
It would be interesting to know how you detected the leak and where exactly it is.
regards Bob

Re: Rienza Leaking Shower Tap ?
Many thanks for your thoughts, BobK, I will show all this to my husband. He had already removed the wardrobe floor, the leak is showing in the very depths under the pump, i think. There is a whistling noise coming from somewhere, air is getting in somewhere along the way.

Right, he has already taken the tap lever off. Does he unscrew the plastic bit in the tap or the brass nut, please?

Hi .. as I said, it's a couple of years at least since I did mine but I think there is a retaining ring which unscrews and then the valve assembly lifts out ..... just back home otherwise I would have checked mine for you.
Your whistling noise sounds like a small leak somewhere. Does it stop if you switch off the pump and can you locate where the sound comes from. Is Nik (or is it chris) convinced that the tap is leaking or are the options still open.? From memory, my tap leaked out under the lever into the sink area - not below.
What tune does it whistle !!! (water music ??)
good luck Bob

Hi Bob
Where did you get the valves from or what do you search for.

Hi Doris If you google "motorhome ceramic cartridge " you will get a lot of results and diagrams . I think mine was a Reich make but not sure. I actually took out the cartridge and went to a local caravan dealer and compared them (Overland at Larbert). They had quite a wide stock. Not really familiar with caravan/motorhome dealers in your area but you probably know of some. (Cabervans near Greenock/Gourock???)

Have taken the cartridge out, it appears to be in good order. The problem looks to be below the sink.
Nick managed to fix the whistling sound by replacing the O ring in the filter housing.

Re: Rienza Leaking Shower Tap ?
Still not sorted. Nick has come up with the idea of cutting a hole through the wardrobe to attempt to access the pipes in the bathroom, hopefully this weekend. At least tackling it from the wardrobe side any holes will remain hidden! Will keep you posted.

Hi Bo
Doris does not have a leak. I was able to turn the tap off but it will not turn on. Doris is too old to have ceramic discs. The inside of the tap is plastic and needs replacing as I over tighten it. A previous post gave instructions on how to remake the post. I had hoped that you had found another solution.

Re: Rienza Leaking Shower Tap ?
Presently we have the water sysyem working via the hot only; the cold side is where the problem lies and has been isolated. No doubt we will address the problem eventually but at least we can have running water from the taps via the hot side and also able to use the water heater. Little by little.....
