Hi From South Yorkshire
Hi All we have been Motor Caravaners for 42 years we started with a self build then a couple of conversions then 12 AutoSleepers over the years the present Symbol will proberly be our last one as age creeps on. We have been lucky to have always had a motor caravan and we have had tremendous enjoyment over the years

Welcome Alf from Paul and Carol in North Wales. I noticed a mention of this site by you on Wildcamping and on Out & About.
12 Autosleepers! - I'm only on my first. What models have you had? Have you photos of them through the ages?

Hi Paul & Carol A Leyland Sherpa popup roof, A Freight Rover Sherpa pop up roof, A Ford Flair Hightop (one of the first produced) A Talbot SL, A Talbot Sportsman, A Talbot CX High top, A Talbot Rhapsody, A Peugeot Symphony, A Peugeot Rambler, A Peugeot Ruby Rambler, 2 Peugeot Symbols.
All but the Symbols have been petrol engines tI think the Ruby Rambler on the short wheelbase Boxer was the best conversion we have ever had but a bit under powered for hills we like the Yorkshire Dales and Scottish Highlands so we have always stuck with PVC vans we like to go places coachbuilt find it difficult to go
I will sort some photos out to post the last four vans I have had a digital camera so no problem the other I will have to dig into prints and slides

Hi Alf,
Welcome to the site.
Do you live near Doncaster and did we exchange emails about chargers on another forum?

Hi Bob yes about 8 miles from the A1M have you found a result from swapping the charger over yet.
I decided to leave mine as factory set as I leave on hook up when parked at home and alternate the charge between Leisure and van on a weekly basis.

Re: Hi From South Yorkshire
Hi Alf,
I thought it was you when I read the impressive list of previous motorhomes.
I am still using my charger on 3 stage but to be honest I rarely use mains hook up having fitted a 65w solar panel.
I was forced onto a mains pitch a few weeks ago during bad weather in the Lake District and spent 3 days on mains without any problems.
Looking back, my main concern was that the alternator probably cut out when the battery was around 80% full and the mains charger on float did not seem to do much better. The 3 stage reaches around 14.4 volts as does my solar panel when the sun is at its best.
You pays your money and takes your choice.
Good to speak to you again.

Symbol Photos
Hi All as promised here is photos of the last 3 Autosleepers there are 2 of the Ruby Rambler we think this was the best layout and best motor caravan we have had.
and the 2 Symbols note on the last one I have fitted driving lamps in the bumper and upgrades Hella headlight conversions both kits cost £40 ( for both including bulbs ) these were from a local caravan dealer that had bought the end of the line stuff from Swift ( he may have some left ) I have also fitted LED sidwlights I can use these as daytime running lights.
I have a few more additions to the Symbol and will post these on the Symbol forum when I can

LED daytime running lights

No I could have just wired to the sideligts but as I wanted to be able to select when I wanted to use them I wired direct from battary via a 1amp fuse and a switch on the dash if you note the sidelight on the conversion they are recessed and give little sideways light this was my reson for the additional led light but chose to use as daytime running also Maplins had these on offer at 1/2 price at the time
