Advice and Opinions Please
We have caravaned for 13ish years now but van is now in storage...a hassle to get out....and we are finding that we would like to meander to and fro sites at the start and end of our holidays as well as not having to spend fixed amounts of time in one place.
We've looked at Bongos and ruled out as too small and not versatile. Then found the T25 Autohomes which have the perfect layout..however the age, reliability and rust is putting us off.
This is how we arrived at the T4 VW Trident. We like the exterior look of the van and although the interior does look a little dated and not as nice as the Autohomes we think we could compromise on this if the reliabilty and rust problems are not so great as with the T25. Also wondering how these would hold value compared to the T25.
We know very little about campervans and would appreciate hearing from others who have already taken the plunge.
We definately want a small size camper to get off the beaten track.
Thanks

Re: Advice and Opinions Please
I've never owned one, but I've done a lot of research in the process of buying a new (T5-based) van, and a T4-based van should be a very good choice (assuming price reflects condition, of course). They are a modern design, yet they don't have the excessive (IMO) complexity of the most recent vans, and they are one of the best of that era for resisting rust - significantly more so than the T25, from what I've seen.
And IMO you are right to place less emphasis on the appearance of the interior. There is no harm in it looking a bit dated (to some people) if it is in reasonable condition and does everything that you need it to.

Hi
I don't know if it is what you want but there is a t25 for sale on this forum (posted today)
Good luck with whatever your choice is. The only thing I would advise , whatever the layout, is check the beds for size

The VW T4 Trident will suit you well or the low line Trooper even. the trouble is these vans retain a very good price and are not cheap to pick up despite some of them getting on in years. the upholstery is best kept in its original state for when you sell as it will help retain the value. some of the interior patterns are not as flowery as others so you might be lucky and find something that suits you. good luck in finding a nice van.

Go and have a look at Spinney, you cant be that far away from them. They normally have a good selection of PVCs in stock including Tridents, Topaz, Symbols & etc.
Take your time looking and dont rush things you will know when you see the right van
Tell them you have picked up their name off this forum.

If you get a choice, go for the 2.5 engine - very smooth - very economical.
