New member saying Hi
Hi guys / Girls.
I have just joined and read that I have to introduce myself
I am Called Tony, I am 43 and I am from sunny Manchester
I have recently bought my first campervan a Renault High Top, 1700cc, 1986 C reg
I am looking to pick the brains of other members who have the same model / year van as me as I need some advice.
I bought the van as a treat to myself for my birthday in October and I have been working on it every spare minuet I have had - and really enjoying it - hopfully I can upload some pics later of what I have done so far.
I have recently bought a Renault High top campervan. With the van I bought I was given a Revtex 3000 porch awning. I was also given the track that fits onto the van that the awning channels onto. My problem is I dont know how high up the van to put the track and do I glue it in place or are there brackets available from a camping shop to fasten the track onto the outside of the van (I have bought some Sikaflex caravan adhesive/sealant) - Could anyone give me any tips or advice any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tony

Hi Tony
Welcome to the forum form a very wet somerset
I think you are refering to the J rail. I have seen these rivetted to the roof on some vans, but personally I would stick with Sikaflex. Height wise, you need check how far up your awning tunnel will reach. Usually they are fixed about 4 to 6 inches up from where the roof meets the top of the van. But make sure you can reach to fit the awning over the J rail, especially if you are short like me!

Hi Tony, Welcome to ASOF from a sunny(ish) Preston
Not a good idea to publish your phone number on a forum that thousands of people have access to mate! I would use the edit facility to remove that if I were you, before too many people see it.
Frank
Your 1986 van could be an RHT, RCX or an early Rapport. If your engine is OHV then it's a 1647cc if it's OHC then it's 1721cc, I'm not being pedantic, there is a huge difference between these two engines and if you are looking for parts, you need to specify which one it is.devilinsideyou wrote:Hi guys / Girls.
