Re: Nuevo rear steadies
On our Cotswold which has a biggish overhang we would use the steadies if on a CL for a few days and they do make a big difference on the stability. Also on a windy night they make a differemce.
However just on an overnight wild or aire we dont bother using them. If we had a smaller van like out last one 6M we wouldnt use them at any time as the vans are stable enough

Hi Robbie,
I absolutely agree with you, it very much depends on the length of the vehicle you have, and anything around the 6m or under it's a bit of an overkill. IMHO.
Actually my van looks neater without them.

Worcester and steadies
Our van is 7m long, give or take. We did use the steadies a few times and then discovered that putting enough 'steadying' in place to be worth while distorts the van and the habitation door jams! It looks like they are just attached to the underside of the floor, not the chassis! After the 12 month habitation service next week, they will come off and join the mounting pile of kit we have already removed...

Steadies ?
Thanks again for all the replies which have been very helpful.
I have asked Marquis not to include steadies on my Nuevo.
Cheers to all, Silver

Re: Nuevo rear steadies
Hi,
I have a Windsor with rear steadies fitted from new. I like Roli have a lack of weight capacity, has any one weighed the steadies ? I just wondered what I would gain weight wise if I removed them. All up total weight for the 2 x rear steadies please !
Thanks Mike

weight gain
is it really worth removing them if you only gain 12 kg?

Re: Nuevo rear steadies
It's only 12kg, but if you bear in mind that that you have to drag that useless (assuming you never use them) up every hill your van has to climb, and it all adds up.
I'd rather be carrying an additional "free" 12kg of payload than have two chunks of steel hanging off the van that will never get used!

Re: Nuevo rear steadies
It might not sound a lot of weight but with the abismal loading allowance on most AS vans it could mean the difference between being legal and not (the French plod are enthusiastic over these things)
Anyway I look at it like sapper997 - bigger vino capacity
