Just saying Hi
Hello, I have just bought an Auto-Sleeper Surrey, will be ready for collection in a few days as I'm having a couple of bits and bobs put on, came across this forum so thought I would register. I'm sure I will have loads of questions once I take delivery. Regards John (golly)

Re-Just saying hi
Hi John
Welcome to the forum from sunny Bridlington I had a road test in a Surrey last month and loved the smooth automatic gearchange and the general quailty build of the van, however well out of my price range.

If your down our way I'd love to see it.

Good afternoon from sunny but chilly Berkshire
Enjoy using your van, if you have any questions you've come to the right place for help - lots of knowledgeable ASOFers at your service
And remember, the only DAFT questions are the ones you DON'T ask!!

Re: Just saying Hi
Thanks for the welcome guys, cant wait to get out in the new van. We have had a transit based Hobby for 3 yrs, but the lay out wasn't conducive to lounging, as soon as we walked into the Surrey we knew it was for us, the fact it is based on a Merc and is Automatic is a bonus. The only problem is with our drive, it has a short steep slope off the road which may be a problem with the overhang, if it is may get some air suspension on the back so I can raise it, anyone have any experience of this?

Hello & welcome from S/yorks
Several of us have air-sus, & like some others, I fitted it myself, & yes, it can be raised & lowered quite a bit,
don't know how much you 'need' though

Thanks for that, hopefully will only need to raise it 2-3 inches, but wont know untill I try it loaded, had a test drive and brought it up the drive, only just caught the grey waist tap on leaving, but that was without any gear on board. How much can you raise the suspension by ?

Re: Just saying Hi
Our van is a similar shell to the Surrey and I have been happy with the improvements made by the Airide system
I think you may be able to manage a couple of inches, depends on the Sprinters chassis which I am not familiar with

Just been outside, let mine down to zero psi, it was 420mm ground to bottom of towbar, pressed it up to 60psi & it was 520mm
so its 100mm or 4" in old money
I guesstimate it may 'do' another inch or more if taken to 100psi

Thanks for that modelman, if I can get that much lift on the surrey there will be no problem. have been busy this morning taking out an old gate post from the bottom of the drive to give me a little more width. Anyone know of a firm in the North East who fits Air suspension, being new to the forum not sure if I should post this question in a different section.
