Hello . New member
Hi fellow people , my name is Trevor and I have just joined this forum having just purchased a year 2000 VW Trident at a price that scares me for a 12 year old van!
Yes I am an older person who has just semi retired and used a large chunk of the pension cash on this VW.
My wife and I are realy looking forward to using this van to have the frequent odd days/weekends away and also taking the dog.
We are well used to camping when younger and cant wait to wake up in the country to the sound of birds. [img][/img]
I am not one to keep up with this computer technology but I will try to keep up promise,
Thanks for reading,
Trevor

Welcome to ASOF Trevor
Know exactly what you mean... The Auto-Sleeper Trident & Trooper models certainly hold their value well (as all Autosleepers seem to)
Try not to think about the cost and just enjoy We had a 2001 Trident until we upgraded to our Nuevo last year.

Hi there,
Welcome from what is now a dark and rather chilly Skegness.
With regard to the price of a Trident let me reassure you.
The last time I filled up "Petal" it cost me roughly the same as the purchase price of my first FOUR vehicles! i.e. A BSA three-wheeler (£15), a Morris 10 (£25), a Morris Minor (£20) and an Austin Somerset (£30)!!
I could carry on with Ford Prefect (Free gift from my Dad after I had smashed myself up on a motorbike!!), Thames Van (£30), Standard Vanguard (£40) and Triumph Herald (£40) but by then we are talking big money and I was sweating at about the same rate as yourself!!
Best regards,

Hi Trevor
Welcome to the forum from Somerset
You can't go wrong with a VW Van, they will always hold their value well. Trident is a popular model especially as A/S have now advised they will not be building any more new ones and will only consider converting Customers vans in future.
Any problems / advice...... just contact the forum and don't wory about you PC skills you'd be amazed how quickly you will pick things up.
Enjoy your van and your retirement , your dog will love all the adventures
John

Hi Everyone and thank you for the warm welcome and kind words which have convinced me that I have done the right thing.
How do we recognise other members of the Auto sleepers owners club when on the road? do you have a secret flash of the lights or something or is this something I get to learn as time goes on?
Just joking and again thanks for the welcome

Trevor,
You will be "Inducted" the first time you meet another ASOF Member on site.
The Induction involves you purchasing large amounts of whisky and then offering it to the other Member with the words "It will only evaporate if we don't drink it."
Enjoy.
Best regards,
Ian

Yeh, what you have to do if you see any of us coming the 'other-way' is to wind down your window, remove shoe & sock from right foot,
stick it out the window, wiggle third toe in an anti-clockwise direction whilst travelling at EXACTLY 50mph in the fast-lane, then that way,
after the accident, you can tell plod that it wasn't your fault, but that of the stupid 'club' rules
