External locker (Devon)
One of the two locks on the external locker of my Autosleeper Devon is jammed and so the locker cannot be opened. I have tried spray, wiggling the key, swearing, but all to no avail. Any suggestions? Will the lock have to be drilled out and then replaced?

One of these red keys allows the barrel to be removed.

Many thanks. However, I see on the red key website that the barrel must be in the unlocked position to remove it.
However, the lock is jammed shut, so I cannot see how this will work.

Does the key go in, but not turn? Could be a worn key not releasing one or more of the lock wafers. Try another key if you have got one.
Brute force with a screwdriver jambed in the key slot might be needed otherwise. Don't use the key it will break off.

I have two keys and they both go in but will not turn. I am slightly worried about applying brute force in case I damage the glass fibre door in doing so. What do you think?

Re: External locker (Devon)
Provided you are only applying pressure with a screwdriver to the lock barrel, damage to the door is highly unlikely. it might damage the wafers and need a replacement barrel.

Re: External locker (Devon)
On my external locker, I believe that turning the key causes the metal bar attached to the spindle to rotate until the bar no longer blocks the door from being opened. So I wonder whether the combination of plying the key and inserting a thin blade to help that bar to move might do the trick? My guess is that bar is no longer bolted tightly to the spindle, and therefore doesn’t rotate.
But I’m no safe breaker!

What you say applies to the gas locker on mine, but the other lockers have the Thetford locks which ore much like a rim lock in action.

Thanks, Cymro. I shall try that in the morning - I am physically and emotionally drained by my efforts today. The mechanism is as you describe. I wondered if something in the locker had dislodged and was blocking the action. I even tried driving this morning and NOT avoiding the potholes to see if that would move the offending item, if indeed there is one. I shall let you know if it works.

Re: External locker (Devon)
Success (of sorts)! More wiggling had no effect, so I took the drill to the lock. It immediately turned and the locker could be opened. The lock itself will need replacing, but I shall order one from Autosleepers. The cause of the blockage might have been caused by the cable bag slipping against the lock mechanism, but I am not convinced that this was the case. Anyway, we can at least get away with things as they are. By slightly turning the arm of the broken lock into a slightly closed position, it fits snugly over the rubber rim of the locker which can then be secured by locking the "good" lock.
Many thanks for your encouragement.

If your key has a 9000 series number, you can order one to match your existing key. Google is your friend.

Ordered a replacement lock from Autosleepers. Estimated time of delivery: 10 weeks because it has to come from Italy!! Bravo Brexit!
