Polar thermal screens Empty Polar thermal screens

Post by Weegie Tue Jan 09, 2024 8:36 pm

Hi all,

On a recent trip, we were parked up next to a van with Polar external thermal screens and they looked quite small and neat in comparison to our Silver Screens versions.

We occasionally opt not to travel with our screens purely because the pack size is quite bulky and takes up a fair chunk of the available storage space in our PVC, so, they get sacrificed for other kit.

I wondered if anyone uses Polar screens and could advise of an approximate pack size?

I'll also try to get an answer from the suppliers too.

Thanks in advance.

Tommy.

Hi Tommy, I have a Polar screen and its brilliant for stopping condensation and for making the cab warmer.  Its a good fit on my PVC, and it travels in the shower when not in use.  It comes with its own bag, which when full is approx 120 x 45 x 15.  The bag folds over double to be 60 x 45 x 30, so its easy to store.  Takes a minute to put on.  Customer service is excellent.

Regards,
Rocky

Weegie - unless you have the extra long screen cover (to cover the scuttle) then any make that fits exactly will be the same size to store unless it's thinner but Silver screens, Taylor made, Polar and Minster all seem same thickness so should fold up the same. I have Silverscreen and packed in their bag are exactly  the same size as Rockys Polar. For summer use I have non-insulated black out screen which folds into a very small pouch , small enough to fit in the glovebox.

Thanks Paul.

We have Silver Screens and the bag is quite big. The Polar versions we saw on the neighbouring van looked less bulky (although we, obviously, didn't look too closely), so, I thought they'd, perhaps, pack smaller. But, from Rocky's description, and your comment, they don't seem to save enough space to warrant changing over.

We’ve recently started carrying our screen cover between the bikes and the bike carrier, holding in place with bungy straps, and so far so good!!
