Re: Free night at CAMC sites.
Apparently they’re going to trial allowing people to use 3 sites over winter with the option not to use EHU and have a discount on the site fee.

Re: Free night at CAMC sites.
Email mentions input costs involved in running sites which are largely fixed, my perception is every site we stayed on this year run by CMC was at noticeably lower occupancy level than previous years so despite increasing charges I suspect overall take per pitch will be down, hence the drive to get greater occupancy with the raft of offers rather than admit they got it wrong with the overall offer in 2023.Dave Gee wrote:Got mine, then follow up emails explaining why the costs have/are going up....
Will still use CMC sites if location suits, but out of peak season if choice in general area we want to go to CCC will win our booking based on cost per night.

Re: Free night at CAMC sites.
We’ve had the email. Will definitely use it.
Sites without electricity in winter won’t have a great take up. But if they did it in summer it’d be very popular. As most of their pitches have an EHU bollard I wonder how that’ll work- will the warden check when you’re least expecting him/her.

Re: Free night at CAMC sites.
Got a text over night and have a booking at Moreton in February when I can use the free night - the trick being to find the voucher code at the time.
I checked my CAMC profile and found that (as with most organisations) I'd blocked any marketing communications - I've now allowed some that I think may be useful.

What next, coin slot showers, charge for filling your water tank, 20p for using the toilet?

Re: Free night at CAMC sites.
We don't use site facilities except water and cdp so wouldn't bother me if they charge for showers or toilets, as long as they reduce pitch fee to reflect it. Also fine if they give a choice of electric or not and reducing pitch fee by up to £6 if you don't want electric just shows what a rip-off their charges are and metering electric will be cheaper (except for those who heat their awnings that we who don't are subsidising).Monty-Plym wrote:What next, coin slot showers, charge for filling your water tank, 20p for using the toilet?

Re: Free night at CAMC sites.
It will be interesting to see how much a unit of mains electricity will cost as I have found this varies considerably between sites that currently meter it. Paying for the mains electricity used does make sense as it encourages economy but it also encourages the use of gas which we are told is not good for the planet. I hope the CAMC does not come up with a pitch fee that includes say 10 units of electricity per night and pay extra for additional units used. This is a pain in the winter as you constantly have to check the bollard to see how many units have been used to decide when to flick the heating from electricity to gas. What's needed is a meter in the motorhome that shows how many units have been used since arriving on site. I wonder if such a thing exits?
A decent meter showing how much LPG is in the tank would also be a good thing.

Still not received anything form the C&MC (including the membership cards I've asked for twice).
Can someone please explain if there really is a 'free night' offer as per title?

If youve changed your preferences so as not to receive marketing promotions then you won't receive the email but others have reported getting text messages instead but that would also not happen if you've chosen not to receive marketing mails.

Re: Free night at CAMC sites.
I suppose to use something like this you would have to connect it within the van before the mains supply goes to the PX300, Truma, fridge and sockets. It also seems rated at 13A with a risk of damage if gets anywhere near the 16A found on most UK campsites.Peter Brown wrote:Power Meter Plug Energy Monitor Watt Backlight LCD Display Electricity Usage Consumption Analyzer Voltage Amps Wattage KWH Outlet Socket, Updated Version 180° Viewing Angle [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Re: Free night at CAMC sites.
Just booked 2 nights at the newly refurbished Lady Margaret's site in Chirk. £30 per night in January x 2 would be £60 but with free night £30, can't book a CL for £15 per night. We normally go there early in New year every year as its only 25 miles away.
Haven't stayed on a club site this year nor had I used the booking app, must say it was pretty painless.

Re: Free night at CAMC sites.
Indeed! A compromise might be to pass the Truma mains feed through the much cheaper 13A digital model mounted inside the wardrobe which can be zeroed on arrival at the site. Compared to the Truma the number of units consumed by the PX300, fridge and mains sockets will be low and predictable.Peter Brown wrote:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Thanks Paul.
I thought I'd changed my preferences back to receiving marketing when I renew in September but haven't received anything lately and certainly not the voucher required.
I couldn't find anything on the website until you sent me that link.
As I said elsewhere, I'm still waiting for my membership cards, having asked twice.
