Nuevo II ES spare wheel socket
Hi there
Our 2011 Nuevo II ES seems to be missing a part of the tools for lowering and raising the spare wheel mechanism underneath the body at the rear. Could anyone possibly post a picture of the complete tool so that I can identify what is missing? I have the socket which fits into the ratchet mechanism and the square bar, but with just these it is practically impossible to wind the wheel back up again. As always many thanks for your help and advice with this.

Many thanks is that long enough to go through the hole in the side skirt?

On my later model there is no hole in the skirt. The extension passes beneath the skirt and is only just long enough not to foul on it.

Caraman's picture is the same as my tool and mine also doesn't go through a skirt hole but below the skirt. His picture shows a black pentagonal section key on the carrier end. The carrier was redesigned and recalled some time around 2011 as there had been cases of spare wheels being dropped during journeys. Unmodified carriers have a GREY HEXAGONAL key, not a BLACK PENTAGONAL one. My 2012 van came with both keys but the black one fits my carrier. It's possible that the GREY key would be at a different angle and allow the tool to go through a hole in the skirt.

As always many thanks for your helpful responses. As per Caraman’s picture I am missing the long round bar at the end, but hopefully can source this from somewhere.

Any piece of metal bar will do for that - even a heavy duty long screwdriver of the right shank size and small enough to go through the hole.chromachris wrote:As always many thanks for your helpful responses. The two silver bits in my photo also act as a wheel brace and to elevate the scissor jack.

Thanks, I'd forgotten that, mainly because I carry a torque wrench around for undoing wheel bolts. Having said that, the last time I removed a wheel I had huge problems getting it back on the studs so now I'd call the cavalry.

Re: Nuevo II ES spare wheel socket
Me also. A year ago I decided to take all my wheels off and rotate them. At one point I thought I was going to have to ask my neighbour to help me get them back on. I managed it in the end. It is a good exercise to do at home as I had to use a long wooden post to bash the inside face of each wheel to get it off. I wouldn't want to have to do this on the roadside.inspiredron wrote:..... Thanks again Caraman, that sounds like very good advice and I will certainly do that. I have also noticed that there are no locking wheel nuts on my wheels so will address that as a matter of urgency.
