Ariel

Hi,
I have just picked up a new XL, I have noticed a grommet on the roof above the windscreen. Looking at many photographs there appear Ariel’s on a lot of vans.

Question is, what is the Ariel for? Should all vans have one? Am I missing vital equipment?

The radio aerial used to be mounted in the centre front roof but then vans were produced with the aerial incorporated in either the windscreen pillar or external mirror (I can’t remember which). The body shells still had the old aerial hole in them so Fiat/Peugeot bunged the hole up with a grommet. High tech stuff. 
These are my Warwick Duos from 2017 and 2020.
