Hi from south coast
Hi, I think this is my first post I think although I joined last year. I currently have a self converted VW T4 camper. Very basic but adequate. My Mrs and I are getting older, so we've been thinking about getting something with a shower and toilet so we can be self contained and make use of the European "Aires".
I've always been put of with motorhomes because of all the problems with damp that are possible. Been looking into the possibility of getting a monocoque, as they don't seem to have as many problems with water ingress. I'm also a life long VW nut, so would have to be a T4.
I've read somewhere that auto sleepers re launched the monocoque body around 2011. Maybe someone could tell me what models they are. Also which other models are good for keeping the water out. I've seen some "Pescara" models that look quite similar, are they good vehicles ? Thanks

Re: Hi from south coast
The 2011 was a special 50th anniversary model, 50 made but all of Peugeot Boxer bases. If you have to have VW then you only have the choice of 3 monocoque models, the Clubman and the Gatcombe and the rarer Medallion (which was also on Mercedes).

Hi, thanks for the information, very helpful. I must admit, if I came across a nice one on a Peugeot chassis and the price was right, I would think about it. Thanks again.

Go to Members Factsheets, then find Executive, a new project
In there is a heap of monocoque info (the models are all similar, not identical).
Mine is on a Peugeot chassis with the superb 2.8Hdi engine, tough as old boots and stuffed full of torque! Just done N Spain incl lots of mountains and hairpin bends uphill, rarely out of 3rd.
For your needs of proper beds and toilet etc Clubman is the smallest, but really not much between them dimension wise
Also has steering column mounted gearchange so no climbing over the stick to get to the back!
Oh, and, of course...welcome!!
