Kingham Towbar & Electrics
Has anyone had a towbar fitted to their Kingham ?
I’ve just searched the site and found them successfully fitted to other AS models, so the Peugeot Boxer XL chassis is fine, but I’ve just been informed by a fitting company this morning that they need internal access to the top rear corners (roofline) for wiring. The only thing I have at that height is the central high level brake light.
I know I have access panels behind the rear light clusters, one inside the shower cubicle, and one just above the bed, but I don’t have any access higher up.
Wondering how others have managed

Change fitting company, vehicle specific wiring plugs into the connects already fitted near the rear lights or if it’s a kit wiring that is not vehicle specific the cable is run along the chassis and up to the starter battery and EM40 fuse board

Have towbar on back of our Kingham. Fitted by dealer when bought. Wired as Chris says. Check weight of proposed bar against payload

Thanks for both of your responses. It was a well recommended company in Carlisle.
Plenty of payload too, I up-plated a good while back.
It’s a bit further to travel, but PF Jones, Glasgow are able to do it.

Buchans for towbars (J2 M74) fitted ours with vehicle specific electrics. No suggestion that it was anything other than a bog standard Boxer fitting.

I have bought tow bars from P F Jones and fitted them for my vans and friends vans. I am on my second kingham and run the live feed down the offside, over the top of the wheel arch and follow the hot air duct behind the fridge, under the sofa and up th the EM40. The only fiddle is the access to the N/S rear light through the two round plugs by the toilet.

I don't have a Kingdom but a Windrush. I fitted a Witter towbar and an ECS kit. Towbar kit bolts into existing holes in the chasis. Plug and play into rear lights and then cable to 12v live. Wiring enters through grommets at bottom. I think P F Jones quoted £700 all in to fit. I have done a few, so decided to do it myself.

When I had a towbar fitted, the company would not use the plug and play option fitted to the van, but wired direct to the vehicle system It has a light/audiable warning on the dashboard to show the indicators are working when anything connected to the towbar socket. Not sure if this is a legal requirement???

Turns out I paid PF Jones and they in turn pay City Towbars and Electrics to do the work in Scotland.
I cannot fault the quality of the work on the towbar itself, however I was less impressed when their fitter didn’t fully raise the roller shutter door and promptly hit the door, ripping the front of my Karitek kayak rack from the roof
The van was back at Karitek in Ayr today for a check and repair to the rack, which CT&E paid for directly. Fortunately no other damage was done.
