battery voltage drop
my 2016 autosleeper battery drops from fully charged , showing 13.8 volts an charger and 12.6 off charger , to 10.5 volts in 15 minutes with one of the touch lights switched on when the 240 electric is removed . I am thinking the battery is done but just checking . I would have thought it would have lasted for days above 12 volts with only a .5 amp discharge showing and one light . This was also with the solar panel still connected but it was very dull at the time . If it needs replacement , im sure it does , are there any types to look out for .

Re: battery voltage drop
We changed our 2016 batteries a couple of years ago, generally speaking 5 years use is seen pretty good for lead acid batteries. At work we hire out narrowboats and if customers flatten the batteries a few times we’ve had problems with them at 6 months and change them. So yes get a new engine start & habitation battery.

Re: battery voltage drop
if you charge you old battery and leave it for a day disconnected , check the voltage to see if you have a drain .

If you have a monitored alarm system, it might be worth making a call to the alarm company before disconnecting anything, To check if there is a procedure to follow to avoid upsetting the alarm, also they will check after refitting everything is still functioning as it should.

Fitted new fully charged battery and left heating on for 24 hours on battery only with 240 lead disconnected . New battery still had 12.5 volts in it so all is good now . Old battery is holding charge of 12. 8 volts after 4 days but out a load on it and it drops to 10.5 volts in 15 minutes . The sight glass still shows green but battery is definitely faulty .

Re: battery voltage drop
Your heating works either on 240v or gas so I suspect it defaulted to gas if your EHU was disconnected. Or maybe I’ve misunderstood what you meant

What's the connection with leaving the heating on?GUY WALTON wrote:Yeah what i was saying is that the new battery works and the old one didnt .Tinwheeler wrote:Your heating works either on 240v or gas so I suspect it defaulted to gas if your EHU was disconnected. Re: battery voltage drop
Because before i changed the battery it was dropping to 10.5 volts in 15 minutes and after renewed it ran for 24 hours and only dropped to 12.5 volts . With the heating on it shows a 1.2 amp discharge at night so it is also using electric . Heating is the only thing i will have switched on when not on 240 volt and I want to know it will work for a full day . I left a light on too to ensure it stayed at 1.2 discharge . As I said in the very first post about the battery not coping .Tinwheeler wrote:What's the connection with leaving the heating on?GUY WALTON wrote:Yeah what i was saying is that the new battery works and the old one didnt .Tinwheeler wrote:Your heating works either on 240v or gas so I suspect it defaulted to gas if your EHU was disconnected. Re: battery voltage drop
Thanks for elaborating. Your earlier post seemed to imply you were running the heating from the 12v battery which obviously could not be the case. Only the ancillaries of the heating will use 12v.GUY WALTON wrote:Because before i changed the battery it was dropping to 10.5 volts in 15 minutes and after renewed it ran for 24 hours and only dropped to 12.5 volts .
