Re: New Merc van conversion at NEC
From MMM web site
Using the long-wheelbase (6.97m), rear-wheel drive panel van, the newcomer is set to become the flagship of the Auto-Sleeper campervan line-up. It will have a layout similar to the Warwick XL, featuring long sofas in its rear lounge and retaining access through both the barn doors and the back and the side sliding door. The spec will befit the model’s status as a premium model, with a separate shower, drop-down TV concealed in the furniture, on-board WiFi, Truma habitation air-conditioning and – a real USP for a campervan – Alde’s ‘wet’ central heating.
Auto-Sleepers
The Cotswold company has had a long association with Mercedes-Benz but this has largely been with its coachbuilt motorhomes. That’s set to change with the arrival of Auto-Sleepers’ first ever van conversion based on the Sprinter.Using the long-wheelbase (6.97m), rear-wheel drive panel van, the newcomer is set to become the flagship of the Auto-Sleeper campervan line-up. Might sneak in under £100k. Interesting if they keep it under 3500kg with useful payload, and given recent discussions on various forums if they stick with lpg, Alde heating would suggest they are.

If had the sort of money that the Merc will sell for I wouldn’t buy a Seval based van. I always lived in hope that the Duetto would re appear but that’s just my personal choice.

The price of new vans is shocking - Symbol with Winter and Premium packs has gone up 29% in 2 years (now £74,745). The fact they use “flagship” and “premium model” when talking about the Sprinter van conversion means I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was six figures.

Or just £10 under

According to Practical Motorhome, there will be two Mercedes based van conversions showcased at the NEC show.

Re: New Merc van conversion at NEC
Auto-Sleepers sent round an email today announcing the new "M-Star" Mercedes Sprinter based van conversion. The photos won't working on the email I got, nor were half the links!
They have, however, confirmed it will be at this month's NEC show.

Re: New Merc van conversion at NEC
The links in the email all worked for me but they only refer to the 2023 brochures which don't include the M-star. The only real reference was a diagram of the layout which is simply the exact layout of the Warwick XL, so we can only assume its a WXL on a Merc Sprinter. We will obviously see actual images in a weeks time.

Re: New Merc van conversion at NEC
My first impression from the layout shown is that base vehicle aside it doesn’t look like much of an improvement over WXL layout. I will see it next week as going to the show. At mo I think I would have used the extra length to improve the front cab area, turning both seats to occasional table,
My thought only.

Is there any chance you could copy the image into a post here please? It just won't work on the email I received and I'd like to see it.
As you say the extra length would be useful for giving the driver's seat a bit more space to move and turn.

Re: New Merc van conversion at NEC
Fridge moved from under nearside worktop on WXL to between wardrobe and shower, looks like worktop has gone from nearside with fridge giving less food prep area, but allows sliding door opening to be full width, WXL has cooker and part of sink in door opening.
Shower and toilet reversed, may give larger shower space
Will wait for photos but at first sight of plan looks less user friendly than WXL
Thanks for posting Paul

Re: New Merc van conversion at NEC
Thanks Paul that's helpful. I wonder if the fridge is now full height, surprising to see such a small kitchen area in a near 7m van.
Hopefully I can make it to the show next week and see it for real.

"There’s sure to be excitement on the Auto-Sleepers stand, as it will include the first of two new Mercedes-based van conversions the firm is bringing out this year. "
Quote from Practical Motorhome, so two new Sprinter based van conversions.

Re: New Merc van conversion at NEC
If I remember correctly as well as being 6.8m long compared to 6.3 for Seville vans, the Merc is about 6 inches narrower which is one reason they have not been used much as pvc base vehicles.

Re: New Merc van conversion at NEC
Here is a question, is it the "new" Mercedes Sprinter though?
The 2023 sprinter in the US features the latest 2.0 litre diesel engine with an option of two power outputs, which will possibly reach Europe in the near future if it hasn't already.
Maybe the new A/S vans have this, I doubt it, in which case if I was in the market for a new one I would be waiting..... for the new one!!

Re: New Merc van conversion at NEC
Full video to follow but brief glimpse now on Facebook posting by AS. From initial view looks like full size fridge with microwave above, large fold out worktop to give e prep space in kitchen, and filler for underslung gas tank behind drivers door. Couldn't see anything about price

That lpg filler is low, not good for back.! .Looks like Alde heating if their advert outside the m-star is anything to do with it.

How do you get a table in between those seats, that looks so narrow.
