Nuevo's 12v Habitation Completely Dead ??

Nuevo's 12v Habitation Completely Dead ??
Just been out to the van a while earlier to find the control panel dead, lifted the seat up and the PDU (charger) is switched on but not illuminated So far I've checked the mains hookup and that's all plugged in and A-OK... so next I checked the RCD in the base of the wardrobe which appears to be OK, checked all the fuses in the charger unit, as well as the 50amp and 5 amp fuses attached to the leisure battery... A look in the Auto-Sleeper handbook states cause as the main 30A fuse blown, trouble is I'm not sure where to locate this... any pointers please? I know there is a chunky one under the bonnet towards the passenger side which I've not checked as it bucketing down outside, could this be it possibly? Not had anything like this happen before... just glad it's gone at home rather than on a trip

Got visitors tonight but will see if I have a circuit diag in the morning if thats any help

Thanks roli... there is a diagram in the handbook but I can see no reference to the 30a fuse, will go out and have a better look around before it gets darker.

Unless you have got some massive equipment on board, I think the 30a referred to and your 50a? are one and the same.
The problem has nothing to do with the 240v side of things unless your hab. battery is dead flat.
I think the fuse on the vehicle battery protects the wire back to the control panel where it can be selected as the charged battery.
Is there 12v+ on the other side of your hab. battery fuses? If so, have you got 12v incoming on the back of the control panel?
If not, I would suspect one of the relays/hab. fuses...If yes, has the panel got failed fuse protection?

Hi Derek.. just got back in from looking at the van, after checking all the fuses I drew a blank so checked the RCD again, switched it on then pressed the test button before switching it back on, then I switched the PDU switch to On and it lit up and sprang into action, the charger seems warmer than I recall it usually being and the fan seems to be running more than normal? looking at the control panel it's currently showing drain as high 5 bars whereas usually this flashes between 0 and 1 bar which seems odd as this is with nothing switched on, will leave it charging overnight and check again in the morning.

I had this as well..........checked the load one day on the control panel and it was showing about five bars same as you.
Checked everything was off.......still the same.
To investigate this current draw a bit more I decided to hook my meter in at the battery. As soon as I undid the neg. lead......click, click, out dropped the adjacent relays, when I reconnected I was back to the one bar on the panel and nothing really showing on the meter. Really strange.
So, I don't know if it was some sort of spurious load or wrong reporting by the panel which was corrected/reset by the temporary disconnection.
Been OK ever since...!

Checked everything was off.......still the same.
To investigate this current draw a bit more I decided to hook my meter in at the battery. As soon as I undid the neg. lead......click, click, out dropped the adjacent relays, when I reconnected I was back to the one bar on the panel and nothing really showing on the meter. Really strange.
So, I don't know if it was some sort of spurious load or wrong reporting by the panel which was corrected/reset by the temporary disconnection.
Been OK ever since...!

Derek may be on the right track, been having a chat with a friend tonight and have to admit we are not as knowledgable on the X250 as the Boxer, but have a look anyway.
Behind the engine battery have a look for a (red on the boxer) heavy fuse carrier. It is wired to the relays for switching off the 12v supply when the ignition is on. On the Execs and Talisman vans it has been known for this fuse to be iffy, not blown but in need of a clean or replacement. Not sure if the X250s are wired the same but have a look. This may explain how you have recovered the supply if the problem is intermittent

Thanks for that Derek, disconnected the battery as you suggested and it's sorted out the control panel issue of reading "High Drain" (5 bars) it's now showing no drain (0 bars)
I wonder if this problem was down to the recent thunder we have been having, the van was on hookup and I was wondering if maybe there may have been a power surge which shut the PDU and everything down, maybe by me pressing the test button on the RCD and switching it back on it reset everything without me realising at the time
Anyway all seems good again whatever the cause, thanks for the tip
