Hello
Hi everyone
Just saying hello and what a useful find this site is! We're thinking of buying a 1997 Duetto to transport ourselves plus bikes around sunny, dry Britain, having had a rather expensive duel with a Bongo several years ago. Any tips or advice most welcome
Cheers
Sonia

Re: Hello
Hi Pagegirl
Welcome to the Forum
We have just bought a 1996 Duetto a couple of weeks ago, we are really happy with ours although ive had a few things to sort out i did get it at a good price, a couple of thing to look out for are:
1: The pwer steering pipes corrode under the air filter box, ours were that bad that they started dripping power steering fluid all over the drive, if possible as them to remove the air filter box so you can check the pipes below.
2: Transits are renowned for corrosion problems especially wheel arches, sills, bottoms of all doors etc, have a good look for signs of badly repaired paintwork in these areas, dont let it put you off if it has signs of corrosion as it can be repaired reasonably cheaply but obviously allow for this in any deal you strike.
3: as with any vehicle purchase check the logbook and chassis numbers also try to find one with a good service history, most have been well cared for but there are some bad ones out there, also i would recommend an HPI check as i almost bought a 95 M reg advertised with 23000 miles only to find it had done over 100k miles when i did an hpi.
Good luck with your search and keep us posted as and when you find one.
Cheers Glyn
