Hello from Scotland everybody
which seems to have stood the ravages of time inside and out very well.
I am 75 and a novice to motorhomes so I guess I will be needing lots of advice, in fact when I find the right place on here I am going to ask something now!
I will normally be travelling solo.
Based in Perthshire
Hope to meet some of you as I travel around, in Scotland for now, then maybe further afield, though there are so many places here we are spoiled.

Re: Hello from Scotland everybody
Hello and thanks Burlington from Bridlington, are they both right?
In Scotland now but a native of the North East of England and have mamny happy memories of the east coast, Whitby, Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington and many places on the North York Moors.
I see you are into bird watching so you would be at home where I am right now next to a Red Kite sanctuary, more birds and wildlife than you could shake a stick at. Very isolated.
Thanks for the welcome

Hi Mario
Bridington was called Burlington in the 19th century, we are ex-pats from A&B, also lived in Fife, East Lothian.

Welcome to the forum Mario. We're not from your area but we do visit the campsite at Blair Drumond often and drink an unreasonable amount of Deanston

Hello and thanks for the welcome Tony. As the crow flies I am probably only about 3 miles or so over the hill from Blair Drummond but never actually been on the campsite there. Good spot for a touring base with most places accessible within a day trip.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
We spend most of the year over in the East Neuk of Fife although we are currently in Berkshire, having recently returned from a month in France in our Pollensa.
Have had a couple of delicious lunches at the farm shop/cafe opposite Blair Drummond.
Lots of great places in Fife, let us know if you want any tips if heading over that way on your travels.

Hello Roger, and thanks for the welcome. As you might have seen I live very near to Blair Drummond and could well be heading over to Fife next week once I am happy that everything with my new van (Talisman GX 1999) is OK. Anywhere in particular you would suggest for a shakedown stay for a few days?

Re: Hello from Scotland everybody
Hi - are you a member of either or both of the club sites? If so there are numerous CL/CS type spots around Fife as well as the club site at Balbirnie, Markinch.
There's a great wee spot at Bankhead Farm just outside Crail along the Anstruther road, overlooking the Isle of May on the Firth of Forth Sadly, Sauchope Links site at Crail no longer does touring, they're now concentrating on statics and glamping pods. There are however several other great commercial sites along the coast including Anstruther/Cellardyke, St Monans and Elie Holiday Park at Shell Bay.
If you're into Aire type locations, these are springing up around Scotland now including Ruby Bay, Elie and Kingsbarns beach, however they were getting inundated so now overnight spaces are strictly limited and there's a £10 charge with enforcement for non-compliance - see:
https://fifecoastandcountrysidetrust.co.uk/improved-parking-introduced-to-fife-tourism-hotspots/
However both are great for daytime visits as is the huge West Sands grass car park at St Andrews, fabulous beach and spot to spend a few hours during the day but if you're still there as dusk approaches expect a friendly visit from the FC&CT ranger reminding you that you can't stay overnight!
Sites with touring pitches near St Andrews include St Andrews Holiday Park at Kinkell Braes and Craigtoun Meadows.
Let me know if you need any other info such as suggestions for eating places once you've an idea where you're heading. If you're in Anstruther forget the long queue at the famous Anstruther Chippie and go to the Waterfront (takeaway or eat in) or the Wee Chippie. In St Andrews, the best chippie is Tail End in Market Street. Don't be tempted by Cromer's, it's overpriced and not as good!
Sorry we'll not be around oursleves next week or we could have met up - it's our granddaughter's first birthday on Sunday so we'll be staying down in Berkshire for that!

Re: Hello from Scotland everybody
Thanks Roger, for all that great information.
I haven't decided which organisation to join yet is either particularly better than the other for Scotland?
Not familiar with the term Aire sites but I am guessing they are rudimentary sites for a few vans with little or nothing in the way of facilities?
I dont think there would have been any room anywhere last week because of the open, but it should have quietened down a bit by now. Anyway, enjoy your Grand daughter's Birthday on Sunday, by far the best place for you to be!
Keep in touch
Regards
Peter

Thanks Paul. I am in Stirling so not too far from you. It is very friendly on here and there is a wealth of knowledge that people are happy to share. Only been a member for a few weeks having just got my first motorhome but it has already helped me out over a few things. I am sure we will have Scottish info to swap from time to time.
